Unexpected Money

The only one who was being pretentious is @gmi3804. @DLgal was only responding to gmi3804's comment about anyone thinking $2,500 is a windfall should pay bills with the money.

There is a lot of assumptions going on in this thread that was just meant to be fun.
The funny thing is I don't think you ever referred to it as a windfall.

I got excited last week when I found 60,00 dollars in a pair of shorts I hadn't worn in three years. I took my kids to five guys with the money. The sad part was I barely got any change back. The sad thing is 2500 isn't what it used to be a couple of years ago.

As I've mentioned TWICE it is going into savings to be used toward needed home improvement/maintenance. I have a whole home rewire and panel upgrade coming up as soon as the electrician can get permits and schedule the work. It will cover 1/10th of the cost.
Did you decide to do that because of answers in this thread? 😛

I didn’t ever say it was a windfall . I only said it was unexpected. Because that is what it was.

I love finding “lost” money like that. It really is crazy how expensive things have gotten. The $15k estimate I got on my rewire project turned into $25k two years later. 😱

Nope. Always was going to do that. I didn’t ask what should I do with the money. I asked what you would do.

Yeah ...that's a pricey proposition these days unfortunately!

Well, DH is retiring in a few weeks, and we might be living in the donut hole between the years we worked and the years we would get social security. So it would likely just go in the bank. But before that, I'd maybe consider putting it towards a cruise to Alaska.

I did! After losing out on the last house I put an offer by just $7,000 I was disgusted with the whole process and ready to throw in the towel and just sign another lease at my townhouse but my grandma offered to let me buy her house. There's some strings attached because I'm buying from family and it needs a lot of work, and it's in my hometown which I was trying to move away from, but overall I'm happy about my decision. We are still in the process of moving and finalizing things, and the house needs a few things fixed before I can get a mortgage on it so we are fixing it up now. I predict it will be a couple months before I will be able to start the buying process, I'm having some trouble finding a reliable handyman to fix the stuff that needs fixed for the mortgage approval.
Well I was having a pretty crappy night but this find - your post - brought the biggest smile to my face. Yay you!
