This story is so funny I laugh every time I think about it!

We were having dinner at Chef Mickey's on July 20th. It was DH, me, 2 dds, and ds. We had just about finished our meal (kids were still picking at desserts) and DH had just asked for the check.

I heard this wierd noise and a plop! We looked in amazement - a pigeon and flown in to Chef Mickeys, hit something, hit DH's head, and leaded squarely in the center of our table! Even the tables next to us had their mouths hanging open.

The bird just laid there, it wasn't dead just stunned I think. Nobody knew what to do - our waitress came over and said Oh My Goodness. A man at the table next to ours came over and wrapped the bird in a napking and gave it to the waitress. We were all so stunned.

Pretty soon a manager came flying over to our table to make sure everyone was okay. We told him we were fine just in shock! Of course he took our bill away and said this one's on the house. We didn't ask for it, but it was a nice gesture.

This is one of those stories that will be repeated for years to come - remember when the pigeon hit daddy in the head at Chef Mickey's! The manager said birds sometimes get into the CR because of the openings for the monorail. So if you are dining at Chef Mickeys keep an eye out for unexpected guests!

I only hope that I can get hit in the head by a pigeon at Chef Mickeys when i have a party of 8 :rotfl2:

OMG! :scared1:  Was your DH OK? Were any Mickey Waffles injured?

Great story! :rotfl: Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm sure it was scary for a moment or so; but is really now funny. What I was glad to hear was that the Manager quickly "stepped to the plate" and took care of the situation. Alot of times people are quick to bash Disney/managers on here for not taking care of there situation. I actually appreciate you telling how the manager took care of everything to the best he could making a weird/scary problem turn out good in the end! :artist:

Oh my goodness! I hope you were finished eating before the pigeon landed on your table! Was your DH's head OK?

We're eating at Chef Mickey's in September - I'll be keeping an eye out for anything flying!

It was at dinner so no Mickey waffles were involved!

We were finished eating, DH was fine - just shook, and the manager and the waitress handled the situation as best as they could.

Everytime I think about it I do laugh - but I'll be on the lookout for anything flying around Chef Mickey's on our next trip LOL.

We saw a couple birds in there when we ate at Chef Mickeys. But none came down for a visit!!!

I have one thing to say: Duck & cover!!! Not from the bird, but from the Tag Fairy. If she doesn't get you on this you'll never be tagged :rotfl:

Thanks for the story... I love it! :lmao: and for the warning: We'll be sure to watch out for the divebombing pigeons at CMs

We have a few good "wild birds at WDW" stories, but I think yours takes the cake!

This is a semi regular problem. There are four rather large holes in the building that remain open 24/7 for the monorail. If you look closely, you will notice a fake owl over each of the doors to keep this from happening, but occasionally birds will stll fly into the resort not noticing the owls.

That makes sense. I suppose there isn't a lot that they can do. At least the birds don't eat the buffet food.

We've had a "meal on Mickey" at CM as well because of a bird incident. Only in our case we didn't have a bird land on our table but rather the bird flew by and left a, um, "gift" for us on his way past. :rolleyes1 We were quickly moved to another table and told the meal was "on Disney."

This was the first morning of our trip. The night before we had dinner at Boma and the woman at the next table paid for our meal b/c she was on the old gold plan and had too many wishes left over and was trying to use them up before check out. So this was meal #2 of the trip and we hadn't paid for either. As we were getting settled at our new table DH says "how's that for Disney Magic?" I said "last night...yeah, but free meal or not, bird poop on your Mickey waffle is not Disney magic." ;)

Thanks for sharing your story but I have to admit that I hope this doesn't happen to us on August 11th when we have Breakfast at Chef Mickey's. We are going with my parents and my mom is terrified beyond words of birds. If this happened at our table I don't know who would have to be carried out the bird or my Mom!!!

I'm terrified of them too! I probably would have been running away in tears, and I would have felt so badly about it afterward because it wasn't Disney's fault!
