Unexpected extension on upgraded APs

We upgraded our DVC Gold APs to Platinum this evening because we'll be visiting on Jan. 1 & 2, and we got the extra 30 days! Really didn't expect that. And the best part is that now they don't expire until after our last scheduled trip in March, meaning we don't have to renew unless we decide we're coming back soon enough to make it worthwhile.

Yes, our 60-day renewal window opens 12/31, so we thought we'd have to spend time renewing by 1/3 instead of having fun that weekend! We upgraded at GR in DS and were completely surprised.

That is the current promotion from DVC thru Jan 2. Glad you were able to take advantage of that.

We knew about the promotion. The surprise was that we weren't buying new APs, renewing APs or upgrading MYW tickets to APs. We were upgrading from one AP type to another and are pretty close to expiration of our AP year. Didn't expect that kind of upgrade to qualify for the 30 day bonus.

Sure did benefit us, though! Instead of expiring on March 1, with big family trip scheduled for March 12-19, our current APs now expire on March 31. And we have 2-day hoppers that we bought to close out our DVA account, planning to upgrade them to renew our APs, that we can now hold on to until we know whether we want to renew APs or buy a different ticket type. Woohoo!

Our Gold APs were renewals, so the upgrade price was for a renewal Platinum pass. The difference was about $80 each, total $176.80 for 2 after tax.

I think the promotion started in early October. If you didn't get an extra 30 days on your AP that you bought October 31, call them. The CM who worked with us last night said she thought we were eligible but confirmed with her supervisor before finalizing the transaction. So maybe it's a relatively recent clarification.
