For some reason, now that the day draws near, I'm not excited anymore to go to Disney World. Is something wrong with me? With just 9 days left and counting, I don't want to go back again. I dont know why.

How many of you have ever felt this way? Am I the only one? Why do I feel this way? I'm afraid I wont have a good time now.

Why??? Is it that you have so many things to do before leaving for your trip that you are overwhelmed? Is there some place that you'd rather be going? You don't want the trip to start because you don't want it to end? You're taking kids who aren't the least bit grateful (that was me for our Universal spring break trip...)?

I was so excited before our spring break trip, but was also so overwhelmed with things to do. Arrange cat care, get dogs to the kennel, clean the house, put a stop on the newspaper, wash clothes, pack, make all hotel arrangements, etc, etc. I'm always so stressed out at the beginning of a vacation. Then when we were at Universal my 16yo DD had the nerve to tell me she didn't want to vacation with her family any more and my 3 boys were bickering and complaining about what we were doing. Not good!

The next couple of trips I'm leaving most of them at home and only bringing my 4yo. Ha, serves them right!!! It will be more fun for me because only the people who really want to be there will be going.

Anyway, I'm way off topic. Just wondered why you are not excited.

T&B

Because it's a vacation and you know that things can and sometimes do go horribly wrong. I suffer from vacation dread myself sometimes. Just remember to look in the mirror, smile, and tell yourself you're going to have a good time. I wish I was going in 9 days.

Maybe you need to go to another vacation spot and take a break. Take a year off and I'll bet you'll be craving WDW like the rest of us!! I bet you will have more fun than you think you will on this upcoming trip.

Hi, there

First off, I'm sure once you get there you will have a great time. However, looking at your signature, it looks like you have quite a few trips planned. Maybe that is what the problem is, if you don't mind me saying. I know that we usually just plan one trip a year and so I have something to look forward to knowing that we won't be going back for a while.

Also, perhaps you are just worrying too much about it. I mean, we all love WDW and expect such a wonderful vacation, but maybe you should just not think too hard about it and just look forward to the vacation aspect. You know, getting away and taking a break from the normal everyday life. I would bet if you just let go of your stress about making sure you have a good time, then it will happen on it's own. Think about treating this trip as a relaxation trip. Everyone can always use one of those!!

Hope you get to feeling better about your upcoming trip. And don't forget to relax! and let the fun happen!

ARE U CRAZY!! :earseek: I'll go for you I no im not sick of it!! ::yes::

I do kinda know what you mean. I don't think you've lost the feeling. I know I get excited making all the plans and then as the time gets closer you know that it's going to be over soon. Hopefully with all the other trips you have planned, you will be able to bounce back and look forward to the next trip.

I get like this, too.

My theory is that you're SO excited about your trip that your mind has shut down your emotions in case of accidental overload!

disneygirl21, weren't you there just a few weeks ago and had to come home early because you had strep? Or maybe I have you mixed up with someone else?

But if that was you, you may be just associating WDW with the memory of feeling so poorly. Go , have fun and make new associations.:sunny:

On the other hand, when my family first started going more than once a year, the anticipation wasn't quite the same. However, we've gotten over that.:D We have as much fun going 2 or 3 or even 4 times a year as we did when it was only once/year.

edited for spelling:rolleyes:

Hi there!

This has happened to my husband and me. See, we both worked at WDW during college, honeymooned at WDW, and have been every year since we were married in 2000 (and we live in MA now). When we were set to go last year with a week left before travel, we found we were missing the usual excitement.

So once we arrived, we challenged ourselves to find the "hidden gems" of WDW. To us, it's not always about the theme parks but about the atmosphere; we can leave our back-home worries behind. While we were staying at Pop Century (a new experience for us), we visited Coronado Springs, Polynesian, and the Contemporary (all resorts we had not yet had a chance to really see) and just strolled about the grounds and visted the shops. It honestly was one of the nicest days we have spent at WDW (and it was raining to boot).

Sometimes we make sure we try a new restaurant (I think someone once told me there are over 200, so we have a ways to go before trying them all). I finally tried the famed Tonga toast and this, too, was a fun experience.

When we went to EPCOT, we made sure to really look around each country's pavillion and chat with the CM's. We discovered the beauty of Morocco and learned how the artisans created the beautiful tile mosaics. We went to the Stave Church in Norway (quite interesting) and walked along the "forest" in Canada.

I hope you have a magical trip!

Yes that was me. I think we are going to cancel a few trips, like our upcoming December and March trips. We may go to Hawaii and Bermuda instead.

Well, that sounds like fun, too. We love going to Hawaii. But we often appreciate a WDW trip even more after that because it is so much easier and faster to get to WDW for us than it is to get to Maui. Bermuda looks wonderful and for you it's probably not too much of a hassle. From the midwest, not so easy.:(

Anyway, enjoy your trip to WDW and I'm sure you'll find the magic.

Can't say I've lost the love, but we space out our trips. Come December, it will have been 2 years, 2 months since our last trip.

Perhaps too many trips (plus a recent bad experience getting sick) are contributing to your feelings about this. Try a few other vacation destinations and see how you feel after that.

I know after our mini-break in Kennebunkport, Maine, we simply longed for WDW.

I get SUPER excited planning then within a week of going DONT WANT TO GO...then Im there and I boo hoo when its time to go and start making plans for the next trip the minute I get back.....this is the cruel reality I have created for myself
I guess its because of the anxiety like another poster said

Im still 64 days away and im on the edge of my seat with excitment.

I can't say I feel like I don't want to go before my trip but I do get a bit melancholy. I feel bad having to leave the pets and I make sure my family knows where my important documents are in case of I don't know what. However once the family is all packed and we're in the car I just forget it all and relax for a couple of weeks.

These boards have also allowed for me to plan every little detail of our trip which can be great but at times I feel like some of the surprise is missing because I have info overload. I keep telling myself that for my next trip I will not get specific with room assignment and be surprised with what we get.

Thanks guys. I'm still not happy. Now I'm crying because we've just spent all this money on a nice vacation to WDW to make up some of the days we missed when I had strep.

Is it too late to cancel?

Back a few years ago we had a trip that was not quite up to par. Disney was not up to the usual Disney standards on that trip. I was not excited about going back for a while. My point is, you got sick when you were there last time so that is porbably in the back of your mind and keeping you from looking forward to this trip. When I went back the next time everything was great and now I always look forward to going to Disney. I will be there in 3 weeks and I am already ready to start planning the next trip. :teeth: I am sure once you get there you will feel better about it.
