Hello. Long time lurker on the budget boards.

For those of you getting unemployment benefits (I am too) and now receiving the Cares Act extra $600 a week. Did you get your $600 this week? Got my first on 4/9 so thought I’d be getting this weeks on the 16th. Still nothing as of this morning.

Haven’t heard that they wouldn’t be submitted for this week.

Anyone have info?

Thank you

All of my adult kids who are laid off currently did not receive theirs last week but did receive the first payment the week before. They received their normal amount given by the state though just not the extra. We are in Mass.

I am lucky, only having to take a week off without pay, but that will qualify me for unemployment and CARES act money. They are staggering people between now and the end of June. My week off isn't until June, and some of us with our week off at the end of furloughs are concerned if the CARES act money will be gone by the time we furlough. Of course now sure WHERE all this money is coming from. I will be within days of my 63rd birthday when this happens, my first period of unemployment ever.

My company doesn't have the best track record with trying to save money. During the recession during the Obama Presidency they did across the board pay cuts, layoffs, hiring freezes and furloughs. They probably would have saved money if they had just done ONE of those things. Some angry stockholders got the CEO to admit that combination actually cost them money. Furloughs, layoffs and hiring freezes meant projects didn't get done by deadlines due to a lack of staff, and many of those projects had penalties if deadlines were not met. And of course you can't cover furloughed employees with over time, but they had to cover vacant positions with overtime. I ended up working 4 days one week with a furlough day, and 6 days the next with 8 hours overtime. Most of us made more money that year!

I’m in Massachusetts. I did receive first $600 on 4/9. Guess with the issues with people getting their stimulus checks too it could be affecting the extra unemployment checks too.

I am logging in each Sunday to update that I’m still unemployed.

What do you mean by recertify?
UE is new to me. I work in PA. I worked intermittently and then we were told we could file for UE due to loss of hours so I filed my initial claim. Then, biweekly we log in and enter our income for the past 2 weeks. Well, our hospital paid us the first week without having to use our time because 2 of our coworkers tested positive and we all were tested & quarantined. The 2nd week they paid out the remaining vac hours in my bank that I was hoping to save but must be exhausted before UE will pay. Fine. So my paycheck Friday was a full check. I answered my biweekly claim honestly that I received sick/vac pay, expecting nothing.
I was surprised to see a $1200 direct deposit today. I suppose that is the $600 extra per week.

Oh you mean the $1200 pp? No it's not that. We file married/joint return and only qualify for a portion, not the full $2400. Plus, the IRS doesn't have our direct deposit info. We've owed taxes the past few years. That will come by check eventually.
When I log into my bank account, the direct deposit states it's from the state of PA for UE.

sounds like its the retroactive $600 for the last two weeks,
My best friend on unemployment got the same deposit today (and also not her stimulus)

I'm in PA and have yet to get the extra 600. We file every two weeks. I filed and got my normal UC last week (for the 2 weeks prior), so from what I've read I'm supposed to get the 600 this week (they said it would be the opposite week of UC). So I'm curious how it'll work. They say weekly, but opposite of your UC. So I'm guessing one week I'll get my normal UC, then the next week I'll get 1200. Will see this week.

Silly me, it's not $1200, it's 1002. I guess that's after taxes were taken out, which I did request. I must have been so excited to see a large deposit, I went cross-eyed for while!

In WI here, no $600 extra yet. Our state was vey late ( as in a few days until deadline) in doing what it had to do. So it'll be retroactive when the system is up to date.
