Unemployment

I'm in PA and have yet to get the extra 600. We file every two weeks. I filed and got my normal UC last week (for the 2 weeks prior), so from what I've read I'm supposed to get the 600 this week (they said it would be the opposite week of UC). So I'm curious how it'll work. They say weekly, but opposite of your UC. So I'm guessing one week I'll get my normal UC, then the next week I'll get 1200. Will see this week.

Just to update. I got my extra 600 today for both the previous two weeks. So I'm guessing next week will be normal UC, then the next 1200 (well, 1080 with taxes taken out).

That extra 600 dollars is really nice of course. Making more on unemployment than I do working 40 hours. Next week I have to work and make less money. But will probably be off the following week. 1313 for staying home can’t complain about that.

Getting my $ from last week and this week today. But of course my online banking is down AGAIN!!! So can’t check my balance.

Guess it must of been a glitch.

Good luck and be safe everyone!!

In WI here, no $600 extra yet. Our state was vey late ( as in a few days until deadline) in doing what it had to do. So it'll be retroactive when the system is up to date.

I am in WI also, and next week we should start getting our extra $600 per week! Next week should also be a bigger payment bc we get $600 for each week since the beginning of April!

Oh you mean the $1200 pp? No it's not that. We file married/joint return and only qualify for a portion, not the full $2400. Plus, the IRS doesn't have our direct deposit info. We've owed taxes the past few years. That will come by check eventually.
When I log into my bank account, the direct deposit states it's from the state of PA for UE.
If yours said UE that means its Unemployment Employment $600 per person X 2 People = $1200. The stimulate payment will still be $2400 We file married/joint return and got the full $2400. If the IRS does not have your direct deposit info you are suppose to go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments and enter your bank info so that you can receive the deposit.

Yay! My online banking is back! Received my payment for last week and this weeks yesterday. Hopefully everyone else is receiving their payments too.

Is there an easy way to determine someone's unemployment eligibility? My middle DD was a part-time waitress while going to college. The restaurant she worked in completely closed. She would have been quitting her job at the end of the school year (this is her senior year) anyway, so I didn't know if that has any bearing on eligibility? I don't want to clog the system down by having her apply if she for sure wouldn't be able to receive it anyway, but if she's eligible, I'd think she may as well apply.

She goes to school in Mississippi and we live in Illinois if that makes any difference.

Anyone put in for the debit card for unemployment? If so, how long did it take to get it?

The fact that your dd was going to quit should have no bearing on her eligibility. Each state has different requirements for state eligibility so you would need to look that those but your dd should definitely qualify for the federal aid. My dd was working at wdw and was sent home when they closed. I don't think she is eligible for FL aid but she meets the eligibility for the $600 a week federal aid. Being eligible and actually receiving the money is proving very frustrating though. Hope Mississippi's UE system is better than FL's!!

your Daughter will apply for unemployment in the state where she works not the state she lives. There is a minimum you have to make. Google saids it’s 3500 in a year. But don’t trust google. Here in New Jersey if you haven’t applied for unemployment in over a year you will do the long form. In New Jersey they take your wages from say I applied in April 1 2020 I haven’t done it in a year. They will take my wages from a year and a half ago to 6 months ago. So it will be from oct 1 2018 to sep 30 2019. That’s what they will.Base my unemployment pay on.

have your daughter apply. Worse they can say is no. Remember to apply in the state she worked in , not the state she lives.

Pa is the worst. My daughter lives in Pa and was laid off 3/12 and has not received one cent yet. And no one answers the phone or their email. I’m not sure how government of Pa expects people to go six weeks without income. The federal stimulus was actually quicker and easier than having to deal with Pa!

Thank you both! I will have apply - like you said, the worst they can do it say no. She had only been at that particular job since August 2019, but she worked in Mississippi for the summer of 2019 as well (at an insurance office). When you apply for the state aid, does that automatically apply you for the federal aid as well? Or is is a separate process?

I’m only familiar with what’s going on in FL but when you apply for state aid there, you are automatically supposed to be processed for the federal aid as well. I’ve yet to see a way to just apply for the federal aid so I think applying for the state is the way to go.

So the $600 is what people could make if the feds would only up the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour.

Maybe is by state? Our govenor stated that it was a 1 time payout

This is part of the federal CARES act so its nationwide. If you're eligible for unemployment, then you'll get this weekly as long as you are on unemployment (or until the end of July when it ends).

The $600 is from the Federal Government and yes, at this point it is a one time pay out, at $600 per week, not $600 total.
