Hi all!!

I am starting to pick up film, underwater cameras, batteries, etc. for our upcoming cruise in November.

My question is this.....What underwater camera do you prefer...Kodak or Fuji????

I would love to hear everyones opinions and experiences.

Thank you!!!

I actually didn't notice a difference in the cameras.

I did however, notice a difference at the places where I had the film developed.

The pictures were washed out terribly at Eckerd, but when I took some to Ritz Camera, they came out beautifully. I'm sure it was the person running the machine and I know I pay more, but I enrolled in the club plan at Ritz and have been very happy there.

Never used Fuji, but I've loved the results I've gotten with Kodak. (Used them in water parks.)

We've used the Fuji one several times and always gotten good pictures. We bought one again for this trip.

We used a Kodak last cruise and the pics were okay, but it was cloudy and so I didn't expect much.
I think either would be fine. The most important thing is that the camera have a flash.

We've used Fuji and had good luck. Make sure of the flash, I think Fuji is a little less money.

Soemone once told me that Fuji film tends to have a little tint of green. I've never used it so I can't be sure.

I've used both (Kodak and Fuji) and had disappointing results with both. I had swore off of the underwater cameras for snorkeling after our last trip because all of the pictures were poor.

Then once by accident, we checked the "Kodak Perfect Touch" photo processing (a few dollars more per roll) on a roll of "regular" film and the pictures were so much better than the non perfect touch processing (and all of this time we though that our "new" camera sucked!!:teeth: ) It's not the camera (even though that does play a big part of the entire process) its the developing and printing of the pictures!!!

So to make a short story long, I'm going to give the underwater camera another shot on our next snorkeling trip. And I am going to pay more for quality photo finishing:wave2:

I have always had crystal clear pictures from the underwater pictures taken with my underwater camera. I don't know what I used though.

Someone at work had a good point. She accidentally touched the lens area of the camera case. She of course had put sunscreen on ealier so her hands were a little greasier than normal. This obviously affected the outcome of her pictures. Long story short, mind your fingers.

I don't know if anyone else will agree but I SWEAR by FUJI underwater camers.

I find the Kodak one to only be good if in direct sun but Fuji has more latitude and the colour sharper...

I used to be a Photographer and as you can see from my tag, I take a ton of photos (1245 on the first trip alone all on film)

Just my 2 cents:wave2:

I've found the FUJI pictures to have a greenish tint to them.

If you fly, buy the camera in FL, In April all the pictures taken before the xray screening came out fine except the last one, and all the rest taken after to finish the roll came out very cloudy. (I asked with the camera in my hands to not put it through the machine, but the TSA's at MCO said no since it wasn't a roll of film)

and I've never seen a flash on a underwater camera.

I agree with Tony. When I went to buy my underwater camera both the Fuji & Kodak didn't have flashes. I looked at both Target & Wal-Mart.

Is there somewhere were I can buy a disposable underwater camera with a flash.

:D ;) ,

I read somewhere before our last cruise that Fuji was better for underwater photos, so that's what we bought. Our pictures turned out fine, so that's what we're using this trip.

By the way, I'm doing the cruise vacation dance -- this time tomorrow DH and I will be on the ship to begin our 7-day Western! Woo Hoo!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

On our cruise last summer we had both a Fuji and a Kodak underwater camera. The Kodak pics had much better color than the Fuji pics. Not sure why, but this year we have all Kodak underwater cameras for our cruise in Nov. See ya there DisneyDreamer.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Disposable cameras with a flash are called Snap Sight and are made by a company called h2o Cameras. You can buy them online or in most beach resort communities for between $10 and $20. These cameras are reusable, just open them up and load a new roll like any other 35mm camera. On a sunny day you shouldn't need a flash for snorkeling, especially in caribbean waters. Using a quality developer will make a difference and it helps to write on the envelope that they are underwater pix.

Happy snappin.

p.s. I like/use Fuji film too.

For the digital camera type people, There's a new digital under water camera from sony. It is exspensive but worth it. We used it on our last disney cruise and the pictures came out beautiful. Plus you can take as many pictures as you want, and delete the pictures you don't want. Also you can take soundless movies, but it takes up alot of memory on the card.
