We are not Vacation Club Members but we are coming the end of July. Our reservations are made for the Contemporary and I am an Annual Passholder but I don't understand the point system. Such as how do you know how many points it would take to stay at the Contemporary. Where do you find out this information?

Thanks!!!

I'm not a DVC member, but I do know this much:

The Contemporary is not a DVC resort (or in Disney-speak, a "home away from home" resort), so typically, you can't really compare points to the regular rates. As a DVC member, you can use your points to stay at the Contemporary if you choose, but the amount of points needed per night for a standard room is much more than a studio at a DVC resort (for whatever reason, I'm not too sure why). As a DVC member, this is a nice feature when you're tired of staying at DVC resorts (but it uses more points), but as a Disney-goer that isn't a DVC member, it's better to book direct through Disney (with any discounts you can snag) than to seek out a DVC member and rent points - in short, it won't save you any money... in fact, it'll cost way more.

Here is the point chart for the Contemporary. At the going rate of $10 per point, you can see that in general, cash reservations are likely to be cheaper than using DVC points, especially on weekends. Full info here: http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/common/blankPage?id=PointsChartWorld05Page
