Undermount sink...Reveal or no reveal???

either way is correct, some people prefer the reveal, some like it flush! At our old house, we had the reveal, the new house all our sinks are flush! I have to say I prefer them to be flush. To me, the reveal always looks like the hole was cut too big. But that's just me. FWIW, we never had mildew or ant problems at the old house!

This is good to know. The sink we had down is in the basement in our kitchenette. When we remodel our kitchen, I know now to make sure it is flush.

Thats exactly what I thought when I saw ours. I got mad because they were the ones that had the sink and knew the measurements. Now I know better. FYIW, its really not that bad looking.

OP, what ever happened with your sink and the Silestone folks? Did you get them to do a flush undermount?

Hello! We are about to have out granite cut. We like the look of the
reveal and I guess I'm willing to deal with the crumbs. :)
The problem is that the granite fabricator is discouraging us from doing a reveal claiming it is too hard to make the cut consistently follow
the shape of the sink perfectly because every sink is a little different.
They even went as far to pull out and show me the sink and (flush mount) template from the manufacturer and show me how that template didn't even line up well with the sink (which it didn't). I guess they go by that template and add 1/8" for the reveal. That made me think, well if they use that template for flush mount, wouldn't that be screwed up too? Also, can't they just make a custom template with a drawing from my particular sink if they are all so "inconsistent"?

I'm buying the sink from their showroom. It is a nice 16 guage Artisan sink so I don't see why it is such a issue. They have a reveal in their showroom!
I see reveals all the time. If other ppl can have one, why is it so hard for this install? He did say something about the way these sinks are made, the the way the transition is made between the flat (top) part on the sink and where the bowl starts, (the curve downward)
makes for all minor inconsistencies in the sink, noticable with reveal.

He also said the "market" wants no reveal so these sinks are made for no reveal. and 99% of his customers want no reveal. It is an Artisan A3220 D97

I think this is all BS they are feeding me as he was trying to sell me on
no reveal. I think they have had complaints about reveals not looking perfect and don't want to deal with it anymore.
Any installers out there familiar with what is more common?
He made me feel like I was the only person in the universe who wants a reveal.

Granite counter. Stainless ink. Undermounted. Nothing showing...perfectly flush and love it. The granite installers did not appear to have any issue with it, and it turned out exactly like we wanted it to.

I think it sounds like that too.

Does Silestone not do 'intergrated sinks' like Corian? Our Corian sink and Corian counter are intergrated completely. No edges of any kind.

We are having an undermount sink put in and asked for it to be flush mounted with the countertop so there would be no rim of sink showing. However, the Silestone folks tell us it is almost impossible to get it exact. Does anyone have any thoughts on which way is best? I just thought I would constantly be wiping that rim if it was there, plus it seems like it would catch all crumbs and stuff being wiped off the counter into the sink.

My sink is undermounted below my granite countertop. I like it because there is no rim to collect dirt underneath it.

I think Silestone is saying it's impossible to make it flush with the countertop because the cut would have to exactly fit the shape of the sink, which would be very hard for the fitter to do. It doesn't seem to make a difference to me that it's undermounted. The dirt doesn't collect, so all is good!

I have Silestone counters with an undermount sink and no reveal. It's cut evenly all the way around. I don't understand what the problem is.
