Hi there!

I just went online and purchased WDW tickets through Undercover Tourist. I immediatly got an email stating that my order has been flagged for security for my protection. I have to call tomorrow morning to verify my purchase. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Thanks!!

Sometimes if you have a limit or monetary alert on your card for a daily limit you will get a notice. That happened when I bought my tickets from Undercover Tourist.

Email from who? Your credit card company? Many will verify large, unusual (to your purchasing history)purchases with you. Make sure it is indeed your credit card company getting in contact with you.

The email came from UCT....I did use my work address for shipping if that might make a difference...?

Your credit card company may have flagged it because the shipping address is not your billing address. So UCT can't put the charge through until they verify billing address.

Yes I had it happen when my friend had her ticket sent to me. I'm guessing it's addy issue one 2 sec phone call and it was fixed

Thanks guys! I knew you would all be helpful! Freaks you out for a second when you have a pending charge in your bank account but a hold on the order :)

Why is it a problem, like you stated in your opening post? I think of it as a service, my credit card company is protecting me.

The OP may have thought the issue was with the UCT tickets? Possibly thinking she now had ordered /paid for them and wasn't going to get them? Idk. I agree it's a nice service that the bank is protecting you; however it's still disconcerting when it happens! Last summer I went to use my debit card to pay for gas and it was declined. I knew I had $$ in there. Had to pick kids up from camps so it was a little while until I could call the bank.

Found out they had flagged my card b/c the night before, I had used my debit card in Target here in NY, and 45 minutes later it was supposedly used at a BB&B in Georgia followed by a gas station down there. Obviously someone had gotten my # so overall it was a very good thing but still nerve-wracking!

And luckily I had enough gas to get to the camps and back, b/c I had no cash or other cc on me :headache:

No kidding! I'm actually quite happy to hear that UT flagged the transaction, especially if it was a direct debit for a large amount from your bank account! With credit and identity fraud being so rampant, sites like UT are probably commonly used by crooks to extract $ from compromised accounts. (Easy to make a large purchase under-the-radar, easy to ship to PO box, retains high resale value & relatively liquid product.)

While it's true that your bank account is probably insured and you would eventually be reimbursed for fraudulent withdrawals from your account, could you imagine what your day would be like if $1000s went missing from your bank account on the day your mortgage payment was due? The fact that your transaction was flagged actually gives me more confidence in UT as a company!

Yea the same thing happened with us because I was using my MIL's credit card to pay but shipping to my address. It was very easily verified and we had no further issues.

Um.. no. Your credit card company is protecting itself. Consumers are not liable for fraud. You are drinking the proverbial credit card company kool-aid.

I have had holds placed at the most inconvenient times while traveling. They are far from protecting me at those times.

The only way it would protect you, is if you blindly pay credit card bills without looking at the charges.

Agree. When I have ordered even though I was using the same address they have always asked me to verify my address before they shipped.

Yes those holds can be very inconvenient, not to mention embarrassing! Real fun Disney story, we were down there in Aug. and besides our cash, planned to use DH's debit card. Tried using it arrival night to pay for dinner at Maya Grill - declined. Huh?? Tried using it in Panchitos - declined. Ok......we know there's $$ in there;) DH called bank; they put a hold on it b/c they didn't know he was travelling to Fla. Funny b/c didn't happen on our Feb. trip or other trips. Anyway they noted that we were in Fla. and said it would work in morning (It didn't; he had to call 3 more times).

Interesting part: about 4 days later we were paying at the Pepper Market. Not the first time we'd eaten there on that trip but first we were using debit card - declined:scared1: It was Sunday so had to wait until the next day to call. Well, Pepper Market comes up as CALIFORNIA so they flagged card again.......he was a little miffed the first time but blew it off b/c of the protection angle, but he wasn't happy at all the 2nd time.

But when we go in March, we will not forget to call the bank before we leave!

It gets ridiculous. You should NOT have to notify your CC company or bank that you are traveling. I ripped into mine enough times that they stopped doing it. Don't accept their BS that they are protecting you. They are protecting themselves at your expense and inconvenience.

Too true! I remember being declined at Disneyland when I was buying a snack. I called American Express and they said, "we've detected unusual activity on your account. Are you currently in Anaheim, California?"

I thought -- if the "unusual activity" is being at Disneyland, they obviously don't know me very well. Plus, I only live minutes away from Disneyland so it's not like I was out of town.

And if I was going to commit fraud with a credit card, I certainly wouldn't use it to buy $5 worth of snacks!
