The MagicBand is not tied to a ticket per say, but tied to a person in a My Disney Experience account. Same with the tickets. When the tickets arrive, you can enter the number on the back into your My Disney Experience account and assign each one to a person in your account. Any MagicBands associated to that person will be able to use the entitlements to the associated ticket.
i've started to describe a magicband like an id bracelet. it just tells disney computers who you are so they can look up your entitlements when you use it and speed up the process.
edited too add: Your entitlements are managed in the my disney experience app and website including what magicbands belong to you and if they are active, deactivated or lost. The exception being disney tours which are not integrated into mde yet and handled over the phone.
Exactly. It's kind of like a bank account. You can access the money in that account with a debit card or a check that is linked to the account, but both are just pointers to the account with the money. In this case, the person in the MDE has entitlements, and those entitlements can be accessed by either a MagicBand or a plastic RF ticket media that is tied to the person in MDE.
I just got mine in the mail from UnderCover, Barbruka, and they include easy directions for adding the ticket info to MyDisneyExperience. I will do that this weekend, then I will be ready to Fast Pass at the beginning of November!
Sorry everyone - I meant MDE, not magic bands. Just didn't know how it all tied together once I get the physical tickets. Do I need to take the actual tickets with me to WDW after I enter the numbers?

No, but I always take mine with me in case there's a problem... never had a problem but I figure better safe than sorry. lol When the tickets get there, you'll go to MDE and input the numbers on the tickets. Once MDE accepts the tickets you should be good to go.
Just to clarify, as long as you have a MagicBand tied to your MDE account you don't need to take the ticket. But if, for whatever reason, you don't have a MagicBand, then yes, you would need to have the plastic ticket with you in order to enter the parks and use FP+. I'm like Mome Rath though, and always take my ticket to Orlando with me just in case. I work in technology for a living, so sometimes have a lack of faith in it.
