I'm normally a fan of the show but last week's episode made me mad. It seemed like nothing but a PR stunt trying to legitimize a company that many, including the Better Business Bureau, believe to be a scam.

It changed my opinion about the show that they would stoop to that.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Don't watch the show. I think I saw like two episodes the first season What company are you talking about?

As for the show itself, I never trusted it. Unless there are episodes where the CEO is a complete jerk to their employees and doesn't do anything to help, I have a hard time accepting the show as 100% authentic. If the two episodes I saw were an indicating, they are all publicity stunts for the companies involved.

I think it's long ago become an infomercial for the company wanting to advertise their business. This isn't the first episode that had us rolling our eyes (boss to pay for implants, anyone?). But, I did say to DW that this "company" came off like a pyramid scheme.

I don't even see how it could still be on. I would think people would be suspicious by now. Unless of course they filmed a ton of episodes before it even started airing.

Apparently there was an episode in December where the CEO of a Hooters-like chain of restaurants offered someone breast implants and fired somebody else for not wearing a bikini top on camera. So, we have at least one jerk CEO...

I watched it as I was intrigued to see what Armando was up to. I see he divorced his wife and has a new girlfriend. I think he is all show.

The business he runs does seem questionable.

I only drop in usually for businesses where it seems more legit. They did 7-11 for example. That one was pretty fascinating even of contrived

It was for a company that is supposed to teach you how to make millions by flipping houses. The lady he spoke with that was at the seminar said that between her and her elderly mother, they scraped together $46,000 for the daughter to attend the seminar. That didn't include her air fare or hotel. The comment the CEO made was that a college education costs over $120,000 and in 3 days he's giving them the tools to start and run their own company.

His "gift" to her at the end was that he would finance $75,000 for the purchase of her first flip plus $25,000 for repairs and she would get to keep the profits but return his money.

That guy was a jerk, but to be fair:

A) that girl made it clear she didn't really want that job &

B) WAY over served a customer who was clearly drunk. And when asked about it, she blew it off & served the drunk again.

We watched most of the first season and maybe 1-2 episodes this year. We got so tired of the sob stories, and that employees would "open up" and talk about themselves like that with a potentially brand new employee. I seriously doubt that happens in real life. Too hokey for us so we no longer watch it.

What was the company name. I can't find this episode on demand.

LOL, no way? It was Armando Montelongo? That's funny.

I know there was a poster here who worked at Yankee Candle in Pennor Mass. I think and they filmed in the store she worked at. She said she was happy for the employee who got a reward.

I dont watch it all that much, but I did see one recently where they had a maaco paint place in Florida and guess what...they have a $1 million contract with Disney to paint all the garbage cans!!

There was another business that also had some type of contract with disney I think but I cant remember that one, maybe someone else does??

After all these years of the show I can believe the employees dont know something is up and its not real.

She didn't want it to be here career. That's totally different from not wanting the job. He fired her on TV and humiliated her.
The other girl, the waitress, was constantly on her phone. She ignored the few customers she had. He rewarded her with a boob job.
There's no defending that guy. He was a pig.

I'm not defending him, and yes he was a pig, but she was a real liability. She & the waitress were equally incompetent, but the waitress wasn't doing anything that could have gotten him sued.
