I think tonight is not the first episode, but this is the first time I've seen the show. I find the show interesting and it should be a wake up call to many customer facing industries.

There is no doubt the show is sensationalized, but the lesson is the same, as a leader in a company, you should be sure you know what everyone, at all levels does, understand what they go through, what it means and how their actions ultimately effect your bottom line.

In many ways I feel like it shouldn't take a television series for company heads to take the initiative in visiting store locations and evaluating how they are operating.

The first episode was with Waste Management. I am glad to be a customer after watching it I was very impressed with the COO. Not so much with the Hooter Guy.

I wish he was COO in the 1990s when one of their vehicles lost its' drive shaft on I-75. The guys boss was super nice nice until they tried to get out of paying for my mom's car repair by blaming my college-age driving skills.

Though one mention of an attorney shut them up real quick.

Haven't watched the hooters episode, yet.

My only "negative" if you would call it that....from the WM episode...how many other employees are like the one that was overworked doing a gazillion jobs? I'm just wondering about how he fixed things company wide versus just the lucky ones who got to be feautred on the show.

I did think he was really cool though.

I read a review of the show and their only complaint is how they have just nice employees. I.e.--it's a leader who is causing the problem if it is anyone. But the employees--at least on the WM episode just happened to be the great ones. I think some of that has to do with the leader scheduling the undercover assignmnet...but on the WM show--there was one leader unaware that the COO was working undercover that day.

I just wonder what would happen if the company leader--got placed with an actual crappy employee and how long before he/she fires his/her behind.

I think it's an interesting show. I'll keep watching it...it's something different on TV. :thumbsup2

I do think Jimbo the Hooters boss should've been fired on the spot. Blown cover or not - that was unacceptable behavior and an apology isn't enough in his case. Jimbo gives Hooters a bad rep.

I agree the guy should have been fired. His restaurant was franchised though, so it probably was up to the franchise owner.

Oprah had the Waste Management guy on before the episode aired, so I didn't watch it after the superbowl, but saw a good amount on Oprah. It's neat because I'm here in Rochester, NY and he was here and in Fairport which is 10 minutes from here. It's weird, but I noticed a change in our next trash pickup on our street. Out of the 10 houses on my street, 9 or us have Waste Management. Normally after they collect the trash, the bins are kind of tossed back up on the driveway. This past week they were all set back up near the sidewalk with the handle facing the house. Weird, but cool :goodvibes

Hmmmm, maybe this would be a good opportunity for Robert Iger to see what is going on in the parks and resorts. He could do it twice - once as an entry level employee to see what they have to deal with and the second time he could go undercover as a guest. Maybe he could see some of the problems people here have been complaining about.

That would be nice but it'll never happen.

What? Problems at WDW? Sacrilidge...

I don't think he'd survive half the jobs at Disney that are on the frontlines. Entertainment is hard, Photopass kills your neck and back because of the camera (and there's only one acceptable way of holding it), Food Service at Cosmic Rays during lunch time, parking attendant standing out in the heat of the summer on black pavement.
He'd probably whine more than me at it.
But as a guest, they "pose" a lot, and bring their families in a lot. 90% of the time there's frontline and managers that recognize them in the parks and word spreads like fire that they're "playing in the parks". So that'd never work. Although if Park operations of DL came to WDW and vice versa, it might work. But some many things are run differently between the two.

The thing I liked about the WM guy, was he said "i was the one that created this problem, and now i need to fix it."
I didn't catch last night's episode... maybe I should DVR it...
