under what?

this country was based on christianity...
i feel as though it BELONGS there...

As you said, our country was founded on protestants seeking religious freedom so doesn't that mean this country should be tolerant of all religions? Does it really matter who sought those principles in the first place? As someone already stated "under god" wasn't in the Pledge of Allegiance originally, so why now? I am a strong believer in seperation of church and state- it is the only way government can function. If you want to say "under god" then fine- do it, it is your right, but it is also someone's right not to.

Because those who do not have a religion (I know quite a few people), feel offended about the "under god" part. Other people with religions that are not a "Christian God" DON'T know it could mean "Any" god and that's VERY offensive to them, when they have rights like anyone in this county.

If people who not Christians have no problem saying "Oh My God" or "Jesus Christ" when they are shocked, then they should be able to say "Under God". You don't have to say it if you don't want to. It won't make a difference to me either way. I they took it out I would probaly forget every time and still say it any way out of habit.

For others its weird to say it, and their school may make them. So I vote take it out.

Yes. He Created This World. He Created Us...this Country...he Deserves Respect. Each And Everyone In This Country Deserves Respect.

Oddly, since I am so opinionated, I couldn't care less if it is in there or not. I do believe in God and that he created this Earth but for almost everyone to be saying it without recognizing meaning is worthless. Personally, I don't say the pledge. I believe that we are being brainwashed into saying it. We've said it in school everyday since the first day of my school career and could recite it in my sleep. I don't like being brainwashed and having to say it, so I don't.

Kindda off topic here but I hate how everything is politically correct these days. I wrote a paper on it for my English class and you really realize how it really is EVERYWHERE when you sit down and think about it. For example, blacks' vs. 'African Americans'. Until you call me Caucasion, I will call you black. If you can call me white, why can't I identify you by color? Or 'fat' vs. 'obese (having spelling problems at the current moment so that's probably wrong)'. Would I go up to someone and say 'you're fat'? No, but I wouldn't replace fat with obese and do the same thing. It's rediculous. Say things as they are. If we all worried about offending someone at any given moment, we could never speak or move. So there's my 2 cents on that.

I'm not going to say anything about no negative comments because if you totally disagree, I want to know about it. I'm not saying that I'm trying to offend anyone but if you're offended I'm not sorry because that's who I am and my opinions don't get changed. It's not my fault that you don't accept someone else's opinion as valid and take it that personally.

my venting is done.
