Made my reservations this morning and it was a nightmare. We have a party of 8 and for three days I couldn’t find anything in the parks we had passes for. So I short changed and said we were a party of 6 and booted my two littles from the reservation. How unlikely will it be to accommodate us when we get there to ask to add in two to the reservation? Should I just cancel the reservations and hope we find something while we are down there? Thanks!

We always have a larger group and personally, I wouldn’t take that chance. Every person has to be accounted for on the reservation, including kids. Do you have someone else to book with you so you can split the party? It would make it easier to get a reservation and it should give you more options! Good luck!

I personally wouldn’t risk it. Can another person in your party try to book a second reservation for two people at those locations?

I would now try to make additional ADRs for the same places and times for 2 to cover the difference. Walking to the podium with an under counted party is a recipe for constant anxiety. How popular are the places you chose?

Think about this from the restaurant's point of view: The greeter now has to deal with someone who deliberately booked an incorrect reservation and is now forced to try to Tetris the table plan to seat them lest they disappoint a customer and potentially face the wrath of a negative review at guest services (NOT implying you'd do that, though ... just an unknown from their POV and there are certainly customers who would complain).

Going from 6 to 8 is also more difficult than, say, 3 to 4. Eight people requires a different table configuration than six.

Call Disney to make your ADRs. They can often find stuff that you can't and work larger groups than you can yourself. It is unlikely that the restaurants will accommodate more people than are on the reservation.

This question comes up almost every week. Every poster thinks they have special circumstances & wan to be accommodated. The booking page clearly states that every member of your party, including infants, must be counted in your ADR. There are capacity limits & with the number of people who ask here, I can’t imagine how the poor CMs deal with it.

FYI, OP. Most restaurants have check in thru the app or MDE now. We have been to WDW 3 times this year & do table service meals every day. Some of the restaurants offer the option to add “1” person when checking in. Some restaurants say you may add “0” people to your reservation. Those restaurants are already at capacity & can’t accommodate more patrons. It seems you must be going early November. Posters on the resorts boards are reporting difficulties finding resort availability, so it is obviously going to be busy. You can certainly wait til you get there & ask at the check in site. But have a plan for if they say no.

I find it interesting that people choose to leave their kids off when they have problems making reservations for their whole party. Like they plan to pressure the CM into letting the kids in too, or blame the CM for turning kids away. The CMs just seat the number of people on the ADR. It’s the guests that decide who doesn’t get to eat there.

No I don't have anyone since Ive booked for the entire party, but I changed the reservations I could. Thank you for the advice!
