Mom did her usual undecorate yesterday and put it all on the dining room table. We just finished hauling up all the packing boxes and we are going start packing it all up. And then my favorite part, trying to get it all back under the stairs. It is a fine example of spatial geometry. The trees are next weekend.

I always love having the tree and hate taking it down. Of course eventually it'll look like a stick and has to come down, but it's so pretty

I'm waiting another week this year. We were away for part of December (DAP :thumbsup2) and I feel like I want the decorations to hang around one more weekend.

I hear you on the get it all back where it came from. Ours is stored in the attic, but since I always seem to add to the already over-abundant supply of decorations every year- part of packing away means I need to get rid of a couple of things each year too.

But not today...

After 3 hours yesterday, DW had everything down and expertly packed away, then found a random Christmas knick-knack in another room. There's always gotta be one, right?

She is a better woman than I. The 2 miscellaneous boxes need to be packed and then the geometry begins.

Kim, spatial geometry:lmao:too funny.
We store everything in a room built under the stairs in the basement. The other day while crawling around in there I stood up without thinking and really whacked my head.:headache: It still hurts. Not looking forward to packing it in.

We missed a week in Dec. with a trip to WDW also. I just need one more week before the teardown. We just got the old trains all working together and I'd like one more week to enjoy them.
So sad putting it all away.

Well, my unstated goal of being finished by 4pm has been reached. All the boxes and bags are under the basement steps, the metal wardrobe pushed back in place along with the plastic storage containers also back in place. Of course the spatial geometry was helped immensely by the fact we are getting rid of 6 large boxes containing things we no longer use/like. That means I have more storage space for more decorations!!!!!! Of course I have no more display space for said possible decorations. That's why there is more storage space. Oh well, a question for next year.

There is no worse household task than the demolition of a Christmas tree. I hate it! Maybe I will take one more week too.

No idea when mine will come down, but I'm not in any hurry -- I've only been home for a little over a week since it went up. My mom left hers up until about March one year, so I come by it honestly :-)

I got all of my stuff down just an hour ago. I also need to go through all my stuff and get rid of alot of it. I am a teacher and get so many ornaments and Christmas knick-knacks. I did manage to put two large shoe boxes full of stuff, but so much more needs to go! Oh well- I will probably procrastinate that til next year!

So sad.... :sad1:
I hate to see the tree come down.
I once kept mine up til Valentine's Day. YES! :scared1: It was a real tree! :scared1:

Ya know, I must be missing a gene or something becuase I feel no rush what-so-ever to take down the Christmas things and pack them away. Maybe before the cleaning lady comes again in 2 weeks... :confused3

I hate to see the decorations come down too. We used to keep our tree up until the Super Bowl but that kept getting later and later in the year. We'll take it down this week but I don't know what we'll do with it. We used to have a wood burning fireplace (where we always burned our tree)but after our house fire in the Spring we changed to a gas one. Maybe we'll just put it in the backyard and worry about it later.

I'm with you.

I'm just claiming to be orthodox this year...keeping it up until Little Christmas...or until I get over the lazies...

I always love decorating for Christmas, but once Christmas is over, I can't relax until I have everything packed up and stored away for the next year.
Then again, the older I get the less decorating I do, so there is less to take down and pack away.:goodvibes

Christmas decorations should not come down until Christmas season is over.

Christmas lasts unil January sixth.
Twelth night
Epiphany
Three Kings Day
Twelve Days of Christmas

You will all think I am insane, but that's okay with me! :rotfl2:

My tree always comes down on December 26th. It is a source of much humor in my family that I am so OCD about having the tree down that I would take it down on Christmas night if the family wouldn't revolt.

I know it seems crazy. I think it is because I am a teacher, and I don't want that cleaning to hang over my head during my winter break. Yeah, that's it!

This year it is especially important because DH and I are leaving on 1/7 for WDW Half Marathon. Can't have any distractions this week. Too nervous.

We had to put our tree up today... It fell over last night. We put it up weekend before Thanksgiving. Not sure how it fell down... :confused3

I am starting to think it fell down or it new I wouldn't put it up until next week! :lmao:

We feel the same way. Ours came down 12/27. We both have very demanding jobs and our children's birthdays are 1/4 and 1/5 so we like to get it done so we can move on without the hassle of clean up hanging over our heads. We decorate the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so we have had a good long time with the decorations.

Our decorations will be up until next weekend - I'm not in any hurry to take it all down. Feels like we just put it up! I think taking down the Christmas tree is one of the saddest tasks there is.

DH injured his foot before Christmas and is just now attempting to be off the crutches - so that tree may stay up even longer. The outside lights on the roof may be up until spring! (we'll stop turning them on after tomorrow probably).
