Hi-my neice is going to wdw w.her four year old son who is a bit of a picky eater. They have a two hour layover in Atlanta and my neice was wondering if she could pack some uncrustables in her carryon, for her son. Instead of paying $$$ for something he may or maynot eat. Does anyone know if these are ok with the tsa? Thanks.

My daughter has always brought a peanut butter sandwhich or peanut butter on crackers to eat when we go on a plane....

I think they should be fine, they are not liquid drinks, Food is allowed!

...and what's the worst that could happen if you brought them and they didn't allow you to take them on? Throw them away? That would be the extent of it...

To add, if they don't allow them through security, I'm sure you can find something else to eat near your gate. These days, airports specialize is offering junk foods that kids are sure to enjoy.

put it in a quart size bag - they will allow it. Put it in his backpack, everyone is allowed one bag.

I would avoid peanut & peanut butter products on an airplane. My stepdaughter is extremely allergic to peanuts. It's a risk I wouldn't take knowing what could happen to her or anyone else that has this allergy. Even breathing in peanut dust can cause a deathly reaction. She carries an EPI pen just in case & we notify the airline of her allergy as well as at the gate when we check in, the flight attendants & we have them make an announcement.

Just my two cents :)

If you pack one, I would also pack something else to eat in case you get the announcement. My son is allergic to peanuts too. The airline usually makes an announcement at the beginning of the flight asking people to refrain from eating peanut products during the trip. I appreciate the passengers who take that request seriously.

We also try to sit in the front row of the plane (usually fly southwest) as to not be surrounded by others who may be eating peanuts, but that doesn't always work.

to ease anyones fear (ie-peanut allergies), she would not open package on plane, just during layover if needed. I believe a sealed package would not effect anyone with allergies.

She should be fine then :)

I've brought multiple sandwiches and snacks on the plane....no problem...

you just can't bring any liquids.....that is not purchase in the airport.

Just a little FYI:

I'd avoid flying Jet Blue or Delta if your allergies are such that you can't even be in the same airspace as peanuts. Both airlines give them out as one of their snack choices. Honestly, I do a fair amount of airtravel (roughly 3X/month) for business and I've never once heard a flight announcement where they suspended handing out peanuts because of an individual passenger's allergy. Nice to see they make those accomodations for someone in need.

We are leaving next week with Uncrustables in hand (or in carry on, if you prefer), anyone had any recent experience with taking them through security?

Thanks

I have flown on 8 different planes in the last month, and every flight offered peanut butter crackers as well as bags of peanuts as a snack. You can't get away from it, I'm afraid.

spectrum-turbo, you can take food on a plane. One couple had bags of food from Burger King, and on our last flight we had hot dogs and fries from Nathan's. I don't see why the Uncrustable wouldn't pass through security, I would imagine it would weigh less than the 3 oz limit imposed on liquids. I don't think the Uncrustable will be a problem. We took granola bars and small bags of M&M's.

If you are really concerned about this go to this website and send an email. I did, and received one back in a day or so...http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

They will allow you to bring an empty bottle through security that you can fill at a drinking fountain inside. You can bring in liquids in 3 oz bottles inside a quart size zip lock bag.
