Nicole, What do you mean you dont want to spend the money...how can you go that close to the world and not go......what is wrong with you woman??
OK here is the deal on cruise ships (yep i saw the news on the girl, sad).
They all fly a foreign flag (even Disney) to avoid taxes, work standards, immigration issues for employees & etc.
So, they dont really have any governing (government entity) body over them.....once they are in international waters anything goes....When you are on a cruise ship, they dont turn on the casino until you hit int. waters....taxes on stuff are more when in ports on the ship.
So it becomes the perfect place to commit a crime.....(sad but true)...In the case on TV now, the FBI comes in to investigate but they dont have a lot of authority over the whole thing...The cruise lines cooperate because they dont need the bad rap.......I dont even know what they have for security on a cruise ship. On the one we were on they did have guys with shirts that said security.....but what can they really do.....kick you off the boat at the next port.....big deal, you just robbed or killed someone.......
I'm surprised more things havent happened on them......
It's like the girl in Aruba who is missing (Holloway??).....what has really happened in that case.....people arrested for 30 days...then free....
In my opinon the girl got into a fight with knucklehead boyfriend bruiser dude who tossed her off.......he will probably get away with it too....The news said he claimed she was trying to climb to another balcony....she probably was to avoid getting slapped around by him.....the girls mother had photos of bruises on her from months earlier.....nice huh??
I think all the ships should have 24 hr digital surveillance all along the sides of those ships...so they could review them.
I think cruises are safe for the most part......I would feel more secure knowing a little more about the security training employees have on the ship....if any! Do they have any weapons training??? Do they even have weapons??
OK thats my take on that whole thing.........sorry to ramble.
