Unclaimed Ebay Payment? What do I do?

I buy alot of my DD12's clothes off of ebay. She likes all that Pacsun stuff that is so pricey and I can really get good deals. Anyway, I won an auction for 2 pair of jeans and immediately paid. Now 2 days later, I got an email from paypal saying my payment was unclaimed. I've emailed the seller twice and gotten no response. I guess paypal has my money and she hasn't claimed it yet? Unfortunately, I didn't check feedback first(which I usually do but this was such a good deal, ending in 30mins that I just bid without looking).....she has no feedback, just registered for ebay this month and no feedback whatsoever.

So, what do I do now? :confused3

You should be able to pull the seller's info as far as a telephone number. Possibly they do not know how to accept the payment or they haven't even looked at their sales yet. Since they are a newbie you may even have to tell them how to proceed.

did you pay by credit or debit card? I had to unclaim a few payments when I first started because my paypal account did not accept credit or debit cards. I was surprised to have so many pay this way since I posted that I could not accept them.

I paid by "instant transfer" from my bank account(I think  guess I'll go look at my receipt to make sure). I didn't think it would matter to the seller either way. I pay paypal, paypal pays them, right?

I don't know how to tell them to proceed. I only buy, I don't sell, so I don't know what they would do next.

I just got an e-mail asking when I was going to pay and as I do buy a lot of things from e-bay went to look at my e-bay account and did not see the name there..sent it to e-bay and they said it was fake..do not click on any of the links in the e-mail!! send it to e-bay right away..Marianne

If they only signed up for the free basic paypal they can only take paypal balance and checking accounts. so if YOUR paypal is linked to a debit or credit they will have to "upgrade" and start paying fees for every transaction.

hth....this would be the only reason I can think of why they could deny your payment.

You can also go to your winning auction page and "request an invoice"

No, it's not a scam. When I go to "my ebay" it shows as payment pending and when I go to paypal, it shows my money got as far as paypal and was unclaimed thru paypal. It's definitely legit, I just don't know what to do next.

My paypal has my bank account as primary and I paid by instant transfer. I do have my credit card on there too as secondary but I didn't use it to pay.

I've emailed the seller twice but no word yet. I hope we get this worked out! It was 2 pair of Tilt Jeans and I got it for $2. The shipping was $7 but that's still only $9 for 2 pair of jeans that cost about $40 each new. What would you do next?

If you go to the Contact Member section of eBay and enter the User ID of the other person and the item number involved eBay will provide you with the name, address and telephone number of that person by e-mail. They will also e-mail your contact information to that member.

Then call this person. Probably, being a newbie, they are confused. You should be able to assist them in completing the transaction.

It is quite possible that their paypal email was entered wrong. If it was an instant transfer from your bank account they wouldn't have to accept it like a CC or DC payment. Since you haven't heard back from the email this sounds like the problem. If they have just signed up they could have used a second email account that they don't use for ebay & used their regular email for paypal. This means that you would have sent the payment to the email address thru ebay, which would be wrong. Sorry if that didn't come out right, but I have heard of this happening before.

Have you checked your spam folder in your email account? Some ISPs put certain ISP's emails right in there which creates a nightmare for ebay auction contact. In that case, both the buyer & seller think that the other is ignoring their emails when in fact they are just going to their spam folder. Good luck!

That's not true. Credit and debit card transfers are instant - the seller does not have to accept anything, it just happens. When it is a bank transfer, I (as a seller) have to accept it through Paypal, and then I get a screen stating not to mail anything out until the payment clears my account (which usually takes 3-5 business days). Maybe since this seller is new, he/she doesn't know that they have to accept your payment to get the ball rolling.

I would pull the contact information and give them a call.

Good luck!

When you only have a basic free account you can not accept cc or dc payment unless you upgrade and pay fees. If you only have a basic ,paypal will give you an option to accept the cc payment and upgrade your account if you deny the payment you do not upgrade and still have the basic free one. But you need to go to paypal and click on the deny button.

I have denied many payments until I bit the bullet to accept fees because I was tired of eveyone trying to pay with a Debit Card (many overseas buyers) and communcation was hard to try to explain why I could not take thier payment and slow for them to get their money back so they could repay me. I now have two paypal accounts...one if fee free (no cc/dc) and one that takes everything

sorry did not see the Quote part of your message------diffferent topic! :rolleyes1

Well, I just requested the sellers contact info.....I got a phone number so I guess I'll call. It seems an awful lot of trouble for a couple of pairs of pants but I don't know what else to do.

What is the best way to pay? What do you seller people prefer? I thought that everybody preferred instant transfer so that's why I use it. I'd rather use credit card sometimes. Which is easiest for the seller?

Last question for today.

I paid on the 21st of April. Should I give the seller a few more days before calling? Or would you call now?

Thanks!

Call today. As you said at the start, the seller is new to eBay. He may be confused about PayPal.

When I use Paypal, I try to do an instant transfer of Paypal funds - that literally transfers instantly. My second choice is to pay by credit card (if the buyer accepts it) because again, that goes through instantly (plus you have the added dispute protection, if needed). My third choice is a bank transfer because you must wait for it to clear before shipping (a hassle to me)

just last Friday I received 2 seperate echeck payments via paypal from 2 different buyers. I received the emails from paypal of pending echecks but I didnt have to do anything to accept the payments, I just waited for the payment to show as 'completed' before I shipped the items. It sounds like the OP did an echeck (bank acct xfer) so I dont think they seller had to do anything but wait for the echeck to clear. Maybe she was afraid of accepting a 'check', being new maybe she didnt realize that the echeck was done through paypal & would know funds were cleared rather & was worried about a 'check' bouncing???

Well, I called the seller and got an answering machine, I left a message. I also emailed again.

The seller did finally email me to say "sorry about the wait I'll ship today. My paypal acct was not set up correctly". That was Wednesday. My payment is still showing as pending however. She/He still has not claimed the money. The sellers feedback is now -2, it appears others have had the same problem. Here's a link: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=5382558593&frm=1883&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:SID

I guess I'll just wait and see what happens here. I'm hesitant to leave negative feedback just yet when he/she may have shipped my jeans. I'll give it another week. I don't get why the money hasn't been claimed yet though.

I have had people say they have paid me and the payment is not in my Paypal account because the buyer had the wrong email address. That hardly happens now because most buyers pay through the auction page on ebay.

The seller, being new, might also have put the wrong email address when they opened their Pay Pal account. Sellers fill in the their PayPal email address on each auction listing.

I hope it works out for you. Sad for that new seller to get 2 negatives right off the bat.
