Can it be done? Looking at a contract where they moved 2021 points into 2020. I thought I’ve heard of Disney moving them back in the past. Thanks

Ok cool. I’m an existing member so though maybe I could be persuade. Thanks

You can always call and ask........ nicely!!!! You never know what will happen with some of the CM's. :tigger:

I wouldn’t buy it with the thought they would do it but I your already buying it there’s nothing lost in calling to see if they’d make an exception. I give it very low odds but doesn’t hurt to ask.

Also keep in mind if they do make an exception my understanding is that it is likely a once in a lifetime type situation. Meaning that when they have done these type of pixie dust favors they normally note the account and make sure you understand they won’t do it again. I mention this because if say you are buying a large contract where they borrowed a smaller # of points (or your current contract is large) you may not want to burn an exception on a smaller # of points. You may want to hold off in case you really have an emergency where you might lose a year or 2 worth of points and beg for pixie dust then.

Thanks, that’s what I recall now too. That they might make a once in a lifetime exception.

There's a slim chance you might get lucky, it's not unheard of for folks who buy resale contracts in this situation, but there is 1 scenario where you can unbank points. I know because I did it.

If you purchase an additional DVC interest, they'll let you modify an existing reservation to use the newly purchase points, and can restore any borrowed points to their original UY. I was able to return 50 points to their original UY when I bought my 25 points direct.

From Article II, paragraph 5, B, 2)
However, if a Club Member purchases an additional Ownership Interest after Borrowing Home Resort Vacation Points, that Club Member may substitute newly allocated Home Resort Vacation Points of a current Use Year for the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points that were used toward a future reservation, and the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points will be returned to their original Use Year.

I know that's not super helfpul for your situation, but I thought I'd put it here for anyone in the future searching for an answer like this.

Hmm, that could be helpful. I’m debating whether to book our bcv trip for next summer now, which would need to borrow points. Just in case the other AKV contract does not go through or takes too long.

So based on above you think I could book it and if they don’t let me put the points back to 2021, then they would let me cancel the BCV trip and put the borrowed points back. Blaaa that is confusing

I am going to assume this property is not listed with us. If it is please let me know. Here at The Timeshare Store, Inc.® we have sellers "unborrow" their points before listing the property. Disney is very good at letting members "unborrow" their points unless they are behind on dues. I have personally never seen Disney not let a member do this if they are in good standing with Disney.

At one time, not sure if still true, Disney would put points that were borrowed back if you bought a new contract from them and now had current UY points to use in a reservation that you had made that had required borrowing. But IIRC, it was to benefit an owner when adding on.

This is the way to go ----Good Luck !

Thanks for posting this. I used above info with Disney CM to "unborrow" 2020 UY points for a reservation I made previously after getting a new resale contract with remaining Feb. 2019 UY points. Hopefully that wasn't my once in a lifetime exception, but if it was, it's too late now. I know rules are rules, and don't expect them to hand out exceptions all the time just for the asking.

Great3
