For absolutely no reason at all, I'm planning an unbirthday party for my DD (4) and DN tonight. DN will be sleeping over.

I have a bunch of toys that I bought at the Target 75% off sale that I'll wrap for gifts.

We'll bake and decorate cupcakes and then have a "Madhatter Tea Party" where we'll all wear silly hats.

Any other ideas? I don't even really know the story of Alice in Wonderland, so any tips would be appreciated!

Maybe I should pick up the book or rent the video for them to watch?

TIA!

I saw definatly rent the movie!
They actually did an unbirthday party for Jessica Simpsons actual Bday on her show.
They had cookies that said "eat me"-which I thought was a cute idea, maybe you could do that with the cupcakes?
They also got playing cards and hung them from the ceiling-they had really big ones, but you could do the same with a pack of large-sized playing cards inexpensively.
I don't really remember what else they did...maybe someone else has some ideas???
It also might be cute if you do the chesire cat thing, maybe cut out a peice of white poster board in the shape of his smile and draw on some teeth and hang it on the wall? hmmmm....

Mad Hatter's Tea Party
You don't need to be Alice in Wonderland to have a madcap adventure. Throw a merry unbirthday party any day of the week and serve tea for a merry unbirthday afternoon. A Mad Hatter's tea party can be held in your home or at a tea house. Both the Teeter House and The Spicery offer children's tea – complete with dress-up clothes and etiquette lessons. You can also add to the occasion by inviting each guest to bring a teddy bear, an American Girl or another doll. Send a white paper doily printed with directions as an invitation. For a party at home, you can set up sheets draped over chairs or use a ready-made tunnel for your invited guests to tumble down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. Once inside, each person can choose a brown paper bag filled with assorted millinery objects – ribbons, buttons, wooden spools, flowers, fabric, glitter and anything else you have lying around that could be used to decorate a hat. Each child then gets a paper plate, which they can decorate in any fashion they choose. Staple ribbons on either side of the plate so that the hat can be tied under the chin. If you opt for a party at home, you might also want to have a box of dress-up clothes available.

Children's tea includes finger sandwiches, petit fours, fruit and other little finger foods. Before or after lunch, you can deal a game of Old Maid or play for prizes in a tea cup coin toss. Pink plastic tea cups and saucers filled with a pack of cards, costume jewelry, mirrors and sweets are sure to cut the cake as take-home keepsakes.

Thanks so much for the ideas!

I think we're going to have a blast (and a very late night)!
