Unbelievably rude woman (not cast member) at LTT

I managed a retail store for a number of years and the thing that always amazed me were the number of people that would show up right at closing time to shop.We would make the closing announcement about bringing your purchase to the register and they would ignore it.I even had people that when you approached them and told them the store was closed that would ask for the corporate number so they could call and see how they felt about me kicking out paying customers, and the bad thing was that the office would back the customer.

I worked at a supermarket and the same thing even though you tell them the store is closing they still would walk around.
Some people just don't realize that working people do have a life too. When a store or restuarant close they have things themselves to do not stay there later because your rude and don't want to leave.
It is a real shame when CM's have to listen to rude people that think they should be catered to because it is their vacation.

I was in the lobby at LTT on Sunday night and was stunned by the audacity of a late-arriving party. The woman came through the closed doors at 10:15pm or so and demanded a table for her 8:50 reservation. The cast member told her the restaurant was closed (since 9:30) and that the kitchen was closed. Irate, she demanded the manager, who explained the same thing. The poor manager took verbal abuse and was told she would be reported by this guest to whoever would listen (Guest relations I assume?)

I know I expect great things at Disney, but this is outrageous. Would anyone bang on the door at Outback Steakhouse an hour after they closed and demand service or else? Unbelievable!!!

Maybe you don't know the whole story. Maybe the family called Disney earlier and were told they could be late. Lately, I wouldn't doubt that would come from a Disney CM over the phone.

I managed a DQ when I was in college. We were open Christmas Eve for a few hours so people could pick up cakes and such. Once Christmas Eve morning a lady called to order a cake. I asked when she wanted to pick it up and she said Christmas Day about 1 PM. i told her we would be closed for Christmas so our employees could spend time with their families. the woman replied " I didn't think people like you all had families." I asked what she meant. " you know poor people who work fast food. I figured if you had families you would rather work and earn money to feed them rather than spend time with them" I just repeated we would be closed and she should call another location (knowing EVERYTHING was closed) HONEST that was a true conversation.

My sis manages a clothing store. It never ceases to amaze me teh stories she tells. 2 years ago on Xmas eve they had closed the store at 5 and were walking to their cars to leave. A woman starts pounding on the door - all the lights were out and there was a note on teh door stating they closed at
5. My sister told her that the store was closed. Teh woman was irate because she needed to find something for her daughter to wear to midnight services and would only dress her kid in those clothes. Teh woman kept inssiting that my sis go open the store. My sis refused saying that they were not allowed back inteh store till the next business day. my sis finally gave her the # to coroporate who did actually back my sister.

But my point is people are rude and don't really ahve a clue.

About the character jumping...

Just about every time we go to one of those character buffets at the hotels, somebody tries to get in to see the characters without being a dining guest. The CMs always stop them and are polite. It must happen a dozen times per day. I usually chalk it up to somebody who just arrived and is excited and shocked to see characters in their own hotel. Of course, I'm sure that there are people who know what they're doing too, but Disney's policy of politely giving them the boot seems to work great. The characters and handlers know who belongs and who doesn't and it generally works out pretty well.

As for the rude, late guest -- and for many of the rude guests in the stories I've read on this discussion board -- I'm reminded of that anonymous deep thinker who gave us the immortal bumper sticker saying: "Mean People Suck"

:headache: Unbelieveable...

"Late"? Maybe. Later than the restaurant is open for business? Nope, no way.

I used to tell people I didn't have the code to disarm the alarm system, only the day manager did.

My hubby owns a retail business and we have people show up at our house on Christmas Day wanting him to open up. Right there at my house with the whole family sitting down to Christmas dinner! The first time I pitched a big ole hissy fit, now hubby sprints to the door to run interference. Sometimes he even opens to the store to help them out. I love DH, I really do, but it's retailers like him that create monsters.

DW works as a librarian, and the same thing happens there with the computers. They make announcements at 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes and 5 minutes before closing and at the 5 minute mark they're told they need to stop whatever computer work they're doing because the computers automatically shut down, and bring any materials to checkout. The computers are automatically shut down by the IT folks at the closing time--the librarians have no control over it. Well, folks will ignore those warnings and some folks will even scramble to a computer at the 5-minute warning to start a project! Of course, who are they angry at when the computers shut down--yep, the librarians, who have no control over the computer shutdown and have issued 4 different warnings. And when the patrons complains, who ends up having to write a letter of apology? Yep, the librarians. :sad2:

Makes you wonder who'd want to be in customer service, doesn't it?

1) Yep.
2) Lot of folks looking for "something for nothing".
3) How many posts do you see people
. . . asking how to get a free room upgrade?
. . . asking how much food they can bring into the parks?
. . . asking if they can bring in big coolers with wheels?
. . . asking how to get extra Fast Passes?
. . . asking if they can use a $2 extra day instead of buying Park Hopping option?

Amen to this (and don't forget the people who want to put more than two adults in a room without paying for it, who want to put 6 people in a five person room, who want to lie about their kids' ages to get cheaper tickets, etc. - the list is endless).

We saw something similar back on Easter Sunday. We had checked in and were waiting for our ADR's at 'Ohana. A woman, her husband, and two children went up to the podium and asked how much longer until her table was ready. I don't know the situation, or if they even had ADR's to begin with. They were told that it would be another 30 minutes or so. According to her response, I assume that they did not have ADR's. This woman very loudly started yelling at the poor CM about how they had already been waiting for almost an hour! And they were not going to wait another minute and wanted a table now. It was Easter Sunday dinner for goodness sake! All of the CM's around the podium, and everyone else in the area, were all looking at this woman and shaking their heads. Then the husband tried to step up and complain, but clearly his wife was the more demanding one. The manager came over and apologized, but was not going to give in to them. They had to wait like everyone else.

The sad thing is, sometimes these type of people get their way just to stop a scene. I can't imagine being that rude to someone, unless there was a valid reason.
