I was in the lobby at LTT on Sunday night and was stunned by the audacity of a late-arriving party. The woman came through the closed doors at 10:15pm or so and demanded a table for her 8:50 reservation. The cast member told her the restaurant was closed (since 9:30) and that the kitchen was closed. Irate, she demanded the manager, who explained the same thing. The poor manager took verbal abuse and was told she would be reported by this guest to whoever would listen (Guest relations I assume?)
I know I expect great things at Disney, but this is outrageous. Would anyone bang on the door at Outback Steakhouse an hour after they closed and demand service or else? Unbelievable!!!
I managed a DQ when I was in college. We were open Christmas Eve for a few hours so people could pick up cakes and such. Once Christmas Eve morning a lady called to order a cake. I asked when she wanted to pick it up and she said Christmas Day about 1 PM. i told her we would be closed for Christmas so our employees could spend time with their families. the woman replied " I didn't think people like you all had families." I asked what she meant. " you know poor people who work fast food. I figured if you had families you would rather work and earn money to feed them rather than spend time with them" I just repeated we would be closed and she should call another location (knowing EVERYTHING was closed) HONEST that was a true conversation.
My sis manages Talbot Kids. It never ceases to amaze me teh stories she tells. 2 years ago on Xmas eve they had closed the store at 5 and were walking to their cars to leave. A woman starts pounding on the door - all the lights were out and there was a note on teh door stating they closed at
5. My sister told her that the store was closed. Teh woman was irate because she needed to find something for her daughter to wear to midnight services and would only dress her kid in Talbots. Teh woman kept inssiting that my sis go open the store. My sis refused saying that they were not allowed back inteh store till the next business day. my sis finally gave her the # to coroporate who did actually back my sister.
But my point is people are rude and don't really ahve a clue.
"Late"? Maybe. Later than the restaurant is open for business? Nope, no way.Maybe you don't know the whole story. Maybe the family called Disney earlier and were told they could be late. Lately, I wouldn't doubt that would come from a Disney CM over the phone.
I used to tell people I didn't have the code to disarm the alarm system, only the day manager did.My sis refused saying that they were not allowed back inteh store till the next business day. my sis finally gave her the # to coroporate who did actually back my sister.
I managed a retail store for a number of years and the thing that always amazed me were the number of people that would show up right at closing time to shop.We would make the closing announcement about bringing your purchase to the register and they would ignore it.I even had people that when you approached them and told them the store was closed that would ask for the corporate number so they could call and see how they felt about me kicking out paying customers, and the bad thing was that the office would back the customer.
1) Yep.
2) Lot of folks looking for "something for nothing".
3) How many posts do you see people
. . . asking how to get a free room upgrade?
. . . asking how much food they can bring into the parks?
. . . asking if they can bring in big coolers with wheels?
. . . asking how to get extra Fast Passes?
. . . asking if they can use a $2 extra day instead of buying Park Hopping option?
