We are going from sat-sat, 9/19 to 9/26. We booked the trip through southwest vacations and got the free dining. We are staying at the Poly. Since this will be our last trip to WDW for a while, I talked dh into staying the extra day, until Sunday. When I called to add the extra day and was told the price, I almost fell off my chair. It's more than double of my per day all-in cost right now (which includes hotel, airfare, meals and tickets (not hopper but including water parks)!!! I can't imagine why it was so much more. All I can think of is I originally booked when free dining was offered and it's not being offered (at least through sw) anymore. :confused3

I'm sad because it's just way too much money for one extra day so we'll be coming home on Saturday....

ETA - I should have mentioned there are 5 of us (2a and 3c) but still - too much money.....

Sunday flights are usually more expensive than Saturday flights out of MCO... the difference in airfare alone for 5 people to switch from Saturday to Sunday could easily be a few hundred dollars - especially if you had a really good price to begin with.

Is your quote only for a room or is it a 1 day package? You shouldn't add any tickets to the room as it costs almost nothing to add a day to the tickets you've already bought and they're good for 14 days from first use meaning you could still use them on that last day. Your dining plan is good until midnight on 9/26. Use up any leftover snack credits for things like danishes and bagels and drinks for the next day. If you have any CS meals left, you can get meals that will keep in your fridge until the next day. You may have to pay OOP for a bit of food the next day, but you shouldn't need much.

Depending on which room you're in, it should cost around $500 (the rack rate for the room) with no additional cost.

I think perhaps it isn't the extra night hotel that is the problem, if you change airline tickets it is the same as rebooking, and will have a per ticket fee tacked on. My niece just wanted to drop off the last leg of a return flight and they wanted to charge her $300 per ticket, that would have been $1200 for the 4 tickets. It's crazy, but what can ya do???

Southwest generally allows you to rebook your airfare without a fee - they even give you a credit for the difference that is available for up to a year from the date of booking.
However, I vaguely remember that deal being specific to certain days of the week, and I think Sunday wasn't one of them. So you're probably now paying for airfare that was free when you were going Saturday to Saturday. It's tough to tell with that package though since they don't really break things down for you very well.
