Unassigned ticket/fastpass/MDE question

we have a family member who may or may not be joining us first week of august. Our fastpass date will be around 6/1. I have his ticket but have not assigned it in mde yet. If I assign it and make fast passes with the rest of us, can I unassign it later and 1) the rest of our fast passes won't change and 2) I can reassign that ticket for another trip to someone else? Thanks!!

1) Correct.
2) Yes.

It doesn't matter about FP+ bookings with a ticket.
If that ticket is never USED for park entry, it remains valid for use or transfer at a later date.

You can reassign the ticket entitlement in MDE to anyone linked to that MDE account but you cannot "unassigned" it. It will remain linked to someone in your MDE account once it has been entered into MDE (you can choose who). That's why ticket resellers will not take returns of tickets that have been linked to MDE.

Edited to point out that it is the ticket entitlement that is being reassigned not the plastic RFID card. Those like Magic bands are forever linked to the original person. So if in the future whoever uses that "ticket" does not have their own magic band (or an old RFID card from a previous trip) you will need to go to guest services/ticket window to have the ticket entitlement linked to a new RFID card.
