Wow...this has gotten to be quite a mess!

Advice to fellow Christians (as an RC - the Christians know what THAT is :) ), unless there is a need to come to assistance to save life or limb, you may want to leave judgement pretty much to Him...

Advice on giving up seats (which really has nothing to do with personal responsibility, does it?), and giving in general - just give until it "hurts." It really pays dividends in joy.

.

Combining these two..."I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love." Mother Teresa

Ok, I'm curious...I am very much a Christian and I have no idea what RC means. Of course, I'm a Disney nut and I have no ideas what have the abbreviations mean here either.

Agree with giving up seats, as long as I can stand I will give up my seat to others.

Great quote.

I love your quote! We could all learn a few things from Mother Theresa....I don't think the word "obnoxious" was even in her vocabulary. :goodvibes

As a mother of a sleeping, heavy toddler during my last trip to WDW, I thank all of you who were not 'obligated' but had the courtesy to allow me to sit with her.

I also gave up my seat several times when others seemed more in need.

I find, arguments aside, that more often than not, people are kind and courteous, whether 'obligated' or not. What a true pleasure and source of hope for mankind.

Thank you, all.

I thought I'd share my story here since most people can't believe it. My parents decided to take me and my siblings on one last trip to Disney before we all were too old for family vacations. (I'm 24, my bro is 21 and my sis is 19...if we're not too old now then we're never going to be.) My parents got two rooms at Sports but because of how busy it was the rooms were four doors apart. My sister decided to sleep in the extra bed in my parents room one night due to the fact that she is obviously not a good be sharer. So it's about 12 pm and we'd just turned the lights off. I'm laying there for no more then ten minutes when I hear shouting coming from the next room. Well I ignore it because it was hard to tell if it was good or bad yelling. So I roll over and try to ignore it. A few seconds later it becomes obvious that it's a couple having a fight. My brother whispers over and asks me if I'm hearing all of it. So after a little while it stops. I'm trying to will myself to sleep before any more fighting starts up but at this point my nerves are all jumpy. A little while later we hear more yelling and can hear that there are also kids in the room. Before long we hear things being thrown around and horrible language is being used. We hear the husband and wife run out of the room and that was the end of the noise. It was an interesting(/scary?) way to end our first full day of our trip. Lucky for us that was the last night they stayed there. Oh and in the guys defense it sounded like it was a case of her abusing him not the other way around.

But on a lighter note(maybe). I always give my seat up to little kids, pregnant women or people more in need of a seat then I am. I figure I ride buses and subways at home and manage to stand for long lengths of time why do I need to sit for a ten minute bus ride at Disney? But I will say it's nice when parents hold their kids in their lap on crowded buses so more people can sit. Sometimes it's just nice to get off your feet on the way back to the hotel.

as a 20 year old guy, i basically will give up my seat to nearly everyone, enderly, young, disabled, etc. oh and also if they are some girl my age and is hot, that warrants it also.

DH and i ALWAYS travel with our "sound machine" its great for blocking out noise- but by the sounds of that fight- not sure if it would have come in handy that night! :sad2:

I commend all of you young people who say they offer their seats to the elderly, pregnant, disabled, moms with babies, etc. You are a rare breed nowadays and a refreshing sight. You remind us that there is still decency, caring and unselfishness in this world. I hope to train my kids to be that way. :thumbsup2

I just want to say that if you would feel uncomfortable with heterosexual couples making out AND homosexual couples making out and you "don't want to start anything," why even mention that they are homosexual? Why no just say "I saw a couple making out and it was gross" ??? :confused3

You said it perfectly! :)

ah the older folks trying to keep up with young college students...

You guys, give Fancythemouse a break. She was pointed out that there was a gay couple making out and her aunt had to make sure her uncle didn't see it because he would have a fit. She didn't say anything bad about gays in general, as far as I saw. It was pointed out that she would say something if it was a heterosexual couple making out like that as well.

Let's keep this thread friendly. It's gone on too long to get locked now!

I'm lucky if I can keep up with my DDs 6 & 8 years old. I am too old and tired to try to keep up more than that! But I've got an Ironman or two under my belt and can still hold my own friend, so bring it on! Actually, it was more from my avatar (?), Crush...kind of something he would say? OMG, Turtle Talk with Crush is so awesome!!! :bounce:

footnote - on RC, KCMiller pegged it, my secret is out :goodvibes

footnote 2 - agree re:fancythemouse :grouphug: <-group hug to all

Since everyone's talking about the couple making out it reminded me, we saw a hetero couple, mildly drunk sneak onto the ship in Norway during evening magic hours. They then disappeared down into the ship. I bet it was more than a little making out. The girl was pretty skanky.

I am 46 and DH is 47 and we still laugh and push each other and call each other names and have fun. I would never push him into another person or in a crowded area, but a good wall or bush or something, just can't resist sometimes.....

:rotfl2: we'll we're even older, married almost 30 yrs. and my husband will always be "Flatulent Breath" to me  and the occasional fanny bump is all in good fun and i haven't run into anyone else yet...if that makes me an attention seeking teen ager all i can say is WHOOPEE!!!! :Pinkbounc :rotfl2: :rotfl2: i haven'tbeen accused of that in decades :rotfl:

I CANNOT agree that a group of 19 people, all adults, only 2 of which were in ECV's, can walk up right as the bus arrives and bump all of those people who have been patiently waiting in line. 2 ECV's take up 2-3 seats each, plus the riders, plus 19 extra family members adds up to 25-27 seats, and that comes darn close to more than halfway filling up a bus. That is unreasonable.

Just because a person needs assistance does NOT mean that their entire entourage needs it as well.

i have to say i agree with this. this happened to us at CSR and it took us 2 hrs to get back to our resort due to 3 wheelchairs and a gaggle of friends who traveled together. I understand wanting to travel with your friends but really when only so many chairs can fit on a bus why not make it easier on all the other guests and be willing to split up your group. considering disney has many wheelchair using guests you'd think they'd have come up with a better solution, like maybe having a few special buses to call for such times.

*sigh*

I am one of these people. I apologize that the driver's load us first, but that's not my problem. If it isn't going to be a full bus when it's loaded, will standing 2 more minutes at the bus stop ruin your vacation??

I always try to catch a bus at off times of the day to avoid people like you.
Your comment wasn't very Disney like. :teeth:
