OK, so every time we visit the World, we go around xmas and so my husband gets the birthday pin. I notice that there are a lot of people with the pins....Do they all "have" a birthday or just what they are celebrating? My youngest said that she is bringing her birthday money from this year and getting "early money" from grandma so she can celebrate her birthday at Disney.....I tried to explain that it would be an "un" birthday.

Am I wrong for not letting her get the birthday button and wear it? I know that my husband has had a bit of "extras" added to his meal(desserts) and I am trying to explain it is not to be taken advantage of....If that was the case, they would all want the darn button! as it sits, we always have the birthday on the reservation, like I said for the DH, but this year we also have graduations! gonna be a great trip and a nice break to a very busy crazy year!

If her birthday is close - within like 1-2 months....and this is a celebration for her... Then I'd let her get the pin. We will be there just before our 3 yr old turns 4 and we are 'celebrating' his birthday there.

I have a shirt I made at DTD - it said something goofy like "I'm Celebrating my Un-Birthday Today!" (I love Alice in Wonderland!)

Well, a CM in a shop at the MK made a button that said "I'm Celebrating!" and wrote in "7, 280 UnBirthdays!" I wore it all day. I didn't get anything special, except lots of smiles and "Happy UnBirthdays!" But it was a so much fun!

Maybe she can get an "I'm Celebrating" button! But I think a few months is close enough, especially for a kiddo, to get a birthday button!

There is no "official" Disney policy on birthdays. A standard cast member answer is that you have to be within 6 months of your last or next birthday. No one actually is entitled to anything by wearing it. Sometimes, a cast member will give you a balloon or ice cream (I was given a free Dole Whip once) but mostly it's just a verbal "Happy Birthday". It's all about you feeling good about your trip to the park. I have never actually been at WDW on my birthday but 1 or 2 weeks later and never felt bad wearing the button for a day.

I have had several occasions where it just isn't possible to get to WDW for a birthday. I usually will get the button if the birthday is within a month, but no more than that.

I say let her have a button for a day! My DH and I got happy anniversary pins when we went last May and our anniversary is August! We didn't get anything special, aside from a few happy anniversary wishes, and we didn't expect too either. We are not able to get to disney for our actual anniversary so to us that was our celebration.

We will be at the World in December (two months after our 10 year anniversary).
Our oldest DD has actually gotten to celebrate her birthday at Disney 2 times already. Our youngest is wondering when it will be her turn (her birthday is in the middle of July and we will never to to Disney at that time of the year)

Since we have FD and lots of character meals booked, this is what we are doing:

Each girl gets to pick one meal for their 'birthday' celebration. We will make this 1 day their individual day, getting them the birthday pin, making that day about them, etc. Once they have picked their restaurant choice, we will have it noted on that ADR.

Since it is technically our anniversary trip, my husband and I will also pick a restaurant and have it noted on that ADR and that day will be our 'special' day with pins etc.

That sounds perfect! When we booked they always ask What you are celebrating,....us this year is a lot,.....so I really like the idea of them having their own special day during the trip.....we planned a day with a few extras for my DD10 knowing she will soon not want to do these things so, I am thinking that just might have to be her day! thanks for the input and idea....

No problem! Glad I could share :goodvibes

Now my girls just need to make up their mind about which character meal they would like for their birthday celebration so I can plan each day for them and make it extra special. (it will already be special since it's our first Christmas at Disney and we will be staying at AoA LM section, but they don't know that yet!)
