My DH's Facebook ppage was nothing but that last night since most of his friends are from back home and those that aren't know he's a huge fan.
I felt nervous for Galarraga come the 7th. Everyone was standing in the 9th. For a big baseball family, it was an incredible thing to witness.
They asked on the news this morning if the baseball commissioner could over rule, and they said he could, but probably won't. I don't understand why he wouldn't.![]()
They definitely need instant replay for things like that.

I feel bad for everyone involved. Jim Joyce seems like a stand up guy who made a VERY human mistake. I've heard his interview. No one is taking this harder than he is.
He could have ranted and raved that he made a good call...he didn't. He fully admitted he was wrong. He made a mistake, he thought the guy was safe. After watching the replay, he sees he blew it. To admit that, publicly, takes guts.
Galarraga is also a class act. Big time. He took it all in stride. He could have charged the guy and everyone would have understood. Instead, he forgave.
I agree with all of this, but I also believe that because even the ump is admitting the mistake, this of all times is when the commissioner should step in. I am sure the ump would even like that. All it changes is the stat, not the outcome and makes it even easier IMO to fix.
