ummm hello hot air balloon

My girls started screaming at me so I ran upstairs and looked out their window, there was a hot air balloon 3 houses down that almost got caught on the trees in their yard.
We could see their faces! They were like this too! One of them said hi to my kids LOL


Last year we had one clip the trees next door! They were rushing to get the fire up again. You could hear the sounds, like a whale blowing air, and hear them saying "UP UP UP"

We're up on a bench so they often come around here sometimes closer than others. My dog thinks that aliens are invading or something. She goes crazy barking at them.

Wish I had a camera handy this time but I cound't find one fast enough.

Where do you live that they balloon over houses like that?

we're in Boise, Idaho. Its pretty common here on cool clear mornings for them to be out, usually there are 5 or 6 at a time.


Haven't been as many this year sadly.



They're so much fun to watch.We used to have a hot air balloon festival here (maybe we still do I didnt see it this year but we've been gone a lot) often you can chase them and the crew will let you help pack it up. Thats a lot of fun!

We frequently have balloons come low over our subdivision. Our dog used to go nuts trying to protect her airspace.

Years ago DH and I went for a balloon ride in the early am. It seems the air is better early or late afternoon. The dogs were the funniest thing, they all barked like crazy. We didn't know where the air would take us and where we would land. Our pilot wanted to touch down in a cemetery and I was absolutely freaked. We finally landed in an abandoned airfield.

Did they give you a bottle of champagne? It is customary to give the owner of the property where they land a bottle.

We have them flying over all the time. A month or so ago, I had a conversation with the people flying by but they didn't land so no champagne.

We have a festival here too. I love all the different shapes. Someday we will take a ride. They are just beautiful!

No, we didn't get any champagne. I've never heard of this before either.

I am used to that since I live in the hot air balloon capital of the world (Albuquerque, NM). And yes, it's very cool to have balloons flying over your house! The International Balloon Fiesta is coming up in a week. There's usually between 500-750 hot air balloons that take off each morning during the fiesta, and special shape balloon glows (glowdeos) at night.

And to add to the OP's comment -- the dogs hate hot air balloons! Ours go ballistic every morning during the fiesta and for a few weeks afterward as the balloons are still out and about.
