Oh yes! Definitely! You can bring umbrellas. Those ponchos protect to a certain extent, but if it rains heavily (which it is supposed to), you need extra protection over your heads and eyes (like if anyone wears glasses and doesn't want them to get streaked!).

And of course, DLR sells a number of super-cute Disney umbrellas!!!;)

I want to make sure i have enough. I have never been to DL in the rain before... Thank you and I am packing my umbrella's

A lot of folks love DLR in the rain, simply because it drives the crowds waaaaaaay down. I do like that aspect of it - and I love bundling up in warm clothes rather than roasting in the heat - but I have been there a couple of times during super heavy, downpour-type rain, and I found it very inconvenient. My friends planted themselves on a bench and didn't want to move or take silly photos in our ponchos, and I was reluctant to take out the camera in the rain. We were drenched, even with the ponchos. I do wear glasses, so they got completely streaked and I couldn't see. Even after the rain stopped, it seemed that whatever ride we got on - even the indoor ones - had big puddles in the seats, which was not fun. I just didn't like it. If it were lightly raining and not blinding rain, it would be much better for me. But, again, lots of folks love DLR in the rain, and it is supposed to be a pretty good storm in SoCal. I wonder how that will affect the holiday activities like the tree lighting and Castle lighting, snowfall, etc.

Make sure to let us know how the rain is impacting the holiday stuff - I am sure it will be good info for people to know in case they have a trip planned for a time when it is pouring!

Have a great time!!:goodvibes

We come from AZ and are not used to rain. My MIL is coming from Seattle she is very prepared!!

I hope it drives the crowds away!!! Not us!

Yes, we take them in and have no problems at all. It's really neat seeing everyone walking around with umbrellas. :)

Just be careful with your umbrella! I thought I was going to lose an eye last time I was there when it rained, I don't mind getting wet so I didn't have a umbrella with me. It's so easy to forget there are people around when you carry an umbrella. Maybe I just need to learn to not follow so closely (and carry a umbrella of my own as a safety shield)! :rotfl:

To keep my husband dry when it rains he uses an umberella. ( He is in electric wheelchair). I might even think about using one to put over a stroller. I agree rain = empty park. You may want to buy plastic parkas from the dollar store. It is a mess when you are following family only to end up following the wrong yellow poncho :(. The dollar store ones are rather cheap-- make it easy to follow family.

The Disney ponchos we bought last year are clear, so you can see your family's clothing underneath it. :)

I actually liked the opaque blue one we got in '05, but the clear ones have grown on me.

Another tip I've learned here - Bring a small towel or a shammy type towel for drying seats, etc, off before sitting. And don't forget about an extra poncho to cover a stroller if you will have one. And maybe zip lock bags for camera's... Stay warm and have fun! :goodvibes

You should also know, if you have $ store ponchos (which we have used in the past!) they are good for staying dry on rides and light rains, but not pouring rain. The Disneyland ponchos are actually much heavier and keep you dryer in heavy rain.

We like it on yucky days. We're planning on going down for dinner tomorrow even in the rain. I'm really hoping it's mostly out of the area by then. Heck, we survived Hanna while in FL Sept so we're good to go now.
