Umbrella Stroller without baby!

So I'm a Florida resident shooting down to Orlando for a quicky-trip with three of my kids, you youngest of which is 10 years old. This is a budget, just because we can trip. My question, if I bring in an umbrella stroller without a baby on my hip, will I get grief from cast members at the gate? I will also have a backpack with sandwiches, water bottles, etc. My plan is to park said stroller with my backpack in it in the designated stroller areas, have fab time with the teenagers & come back & fetch my backpack as needed.

I suppose you could do that, but I wouldn't leave anything in a stroller that I didn't want stolen. And if I'm being completely honest, I wouldn't do it - I would just feel really weird about it. Having said that, I doubt that there's a rule against it.

Why not just rent a locker?

I agree, just rent a locker. Why schlep a stroller around all day?

I'd bring a small bag (Baggalini or the like) to have a couple water bottles and anything else needed throughout the trip, then a bigger backpack with the lunches and anything you don't think you'll need all day to keep in a locker until you need it.

I agree go for the locker. The stroller will be a hassle. I wouldn't take the chance the backpack disappears, too. One time someone stole the rain cover off of my stroller while is was parked outside a restaurant while were eating.

I wouldn't necessarily feel weird about it, but I think that dealing with the stroller all day would be more trouble than it is worth, and I would be super concerned that someone would walk off with my backpack, stroller, the whole 9 yards. Personally, as others have suggested, I would just spend the few bucks to get a locker and store the backpack in there.

I don't think this is a super weird idea. It's out of the box and I can understand the logic. Renting a locker is another option but traipsing back and forth to it might get annoying. I can't imagine getting any grief at all from cast members. I remember once when my dd was young I tried to wing it without a stroller and ended up leaving her with dh at the park and fetching the stroller. So I ended up walking in with an empty stroller. Didn't feel strange at all. I guess it boils down to what is more annoying - going back and forth to the locker or having to manage a stroller. Have a great trip!

I do understand wanting to do that, because we always bring in a backpack with water, snacks, etc. I probably wouldn't do it though. If you reallly don't want to rent a locker, I suppose you could just set your backpack down in the stroller area and hope that no one takes anything from it.

Not roasting your booty but ask yourself this. Do all three kids normally take a backpack to school every day with books in there? Why not have the kids do the same at Disney World and distribute the stuff among all four of you? That way, all of you travel hands free but each of you has their essentials so if one kid wants a water bottle while standing in line, they can just reach it themselves and drink from it, then put it back when they are done or reach the entrance to the attraction. They can each carry their own snacks as well plus a poncho or rain gear.

And the big benefit - they can experience what you go through trying to organize for four people.

Something to consider, many times stroller parking is quite a good distance from the entrance to the ride (Peter Pan, Buzz) and walking back and forth to retrieve it might result in more steps than one trip back to the locker.

Also as someone else said, stroller theft is very real. Imagine the MK is filled with ferrets and raccoons ready to pounce on your belongings the second you walk away from them.

With 3 kids ages 10 and up I would either rent a locker or let each person carry a small pack and distribute the load accordingly.

Except the OP wants to bring in sandwiches and water bottles to save money, and those won't fit in pockets. I agree with disnut8 - there's no reason three able-bodied kids can't carry their own backpacks, and I definitely would not just leave a backpack in a stroller while I was on rides.

Sadly, there are folks who come to the parks for the purpose of ripping off items people leave unattended. I've been told they have quite a lucrative market selling these items.

I wouldn't leave anything of value unattended in the parks.

We were at Epcot on New Years Eve and we had a stroller for our 4 year old. We parked and went on something - when we got off the rest of the family walked to something near by and I went back to get the stroller. I had a coke bottle in my hand which I placed in the stroller and started pushing it to meet up with the rest of my family. After about a minute a guy near by goes, "Hey man, that's a beautiful baby you have." I couldn't stop laughing. I gave him a fist bump and went on my way. The way he said it just slayed me.

You probably had to be there, but I still smile thinking about it.

To the OP, go for it. There might be a little risk in someone taking the bag, but it's not a bad idea if you know your gonna have to get things in the bag throughout the day.

I was so relieved when the day came I never had to push a stroller again that I immediately sold and gave away the one(s) we had. I am in complete favor of disnut8's suggestion.

My kids gave up the strollers at WDW the year they were 4 & 5, and it was a very happy moment in my life. There's no way I'd push a stroller with no little kids.
