Um, 'Mansion' ??? Really?

I googled the terminology that I read the other day. From ABC News: 'In the room with bin Laden was bin Laden's wife," said White House press secretary Jay Carney. "She rushed one of the U.S. assaulters and was shot in the leg, but not killed."'

It sounds like she moved rapidly towards them but it certainly could have been to block the gunfire, couldn't it? I also read that she was only in her 20's and was given as a gift to Bin Laden.

Maybe she was frantic and in her panic was just trying to escape. I really can't imagine anyone doing anything to protect him, let alone a 20 year old that was given to him I know thats most likely not true though

I thought the pool was lovely, and the sniper towers were done in Bangladese marble, very pretty. The whipping poles added a nice touch to the garden, which had lovely accents by the out houses. I was also intrigued by the style of barbed wire around the wall, and the pot plants that lined it were a nice touch. And the wall itself was a work of art. The iron gate work, artisen very elegant. The blood stains also had a certain ambiance and I'm sure all the women had large walk in closets for their burqas. Do you think OBL had bought his wives an extensive heel collection?

Compared to the squalor of the area, I dont think its a stretch. The amount of land and the satellite capability etc. The place was self contained

Yep, and that's part of what convinced them that he was there. Much larger house than the surrounding neighborhood, all the security measures, lack of TV/internet service, burning the garbage, etc. That mansion/house/compound just stood out from the rest of the neighborhood.

I went to India a couple of years ago. In that part of the world, his home would be considered a mansion compared to this:

Alot of the details from that whole Bin Laden story were specious: mansion, woman as human shield, Obama is unbeatable, now. Are we sure it was actually him?

I figure some in the media wanted us to be pissed he wasn't hidin' under a rock so they embellished it by callin' it a mansion, looks like a compound to me.
