Ultrafeast: Beach Club CL Trip March 2010 - New 7/6

Yeah! I'm really enjoying this trip report so I was happy to see an update!

Oooo You can get the CS food from Morocco to go? I've always wanted to eat there, but the rest of my family isn't really into "exotic" foods. This way I can take it with us and eat wherever they want to eat. I'm excited!

And I love 'Ohana. It's always delish! They are so awesome for whipping up that amazing meal for Laura. It's things like that that make me love WDW so much.

It is nearly 4 am and you left me hanging!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1: More please!!!!! :thumbsup2 I guess you can say I'm addicted!:rotfl: :flower3:

Yes, I was so glad they have takeaway containers in Morocco too! Laura would eat the food but has the food allergy issues that make every CS tough, but no one else I travel with would eat anything from Morocco! :confused3

The way they went out of their way (holy confusing phrase!) for Laura at 'Ohana is one of the things I love most about WDW too!

It is nearly 4 am and you left me hanging!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1: More please!!!!! :thumbsup2 I guess you can say I'm addicted!:rotfl: :flower3:

:rotfl: So sorry to leave you hanging, but so glad we've enthralled you so much that you stayed up reading until 4 am!! :woohoo: I actually should have another update up tonight, so stay tuned! :thumbsup2 Although since you're all caught up now, it will not provide you with all-night reading material. Might I suggest clicking over to our Poly or GF TRs in my siggie if you're looking to be kept up until all hours of the night another time?

Oh you want to see?? Hmm, here are some pics of me from that trip.....

I did rock the Disney t-shirts back then. And yes, that is Alex Trebek in that last picture! I met him that trip, too!

I know you are jealous of my black reebok high-tops with scrunchy socks!

And of course...ONE of the spots where Danny was about to propose to Vicky..... (We really did take this picture to commemorate!)

Sorry to hijack...it all just seems so fitting on your TR, though!

Hey Nikki, that picture with Alex Trebek, was that taking in July of 2004? If so, I was there at the same time.

 Love that Trebek is a frequent Disney visitor, and that two people in this TR have seen him in DW! :thumbsup2

When we last left off, we were finishing our 'Ohana dinner and were wondering if we would make it to the MK.

We finished dinner about 10 minutes before Spectro was scheduled to start that night. We still weren’t sure if it was still pouring out, so we went out to the monorail platform to check. If it had still been pouring, our plan was to head right downstairs and get a cab back to the Beach Club. However, when we stepped out, we saw that the rain had stopped! :woohoo: It was still freezing and damp, but we wouldn’t get soaked. So we waited for the monorail and forged ahead to the Magic Kingdom. I asked the CM at the gate if Spectro was still on and she said that it was cancelled due to all the earlier rain (and chance that it would start up again). Boo! I was disappointed that we wouldn’t get to see Spectro this trip, but I’ve seen it tons before and am sure I’ll see it again. Plus, practically speaking, there seemed to be a really good chance the sky would open up again!

The MK was so empty due to the rain – it would have been creepy if it weren’t so awesome. We had an hour until Wishes, so we walked up Main Street and back into Fantasyland to see if we could get anything accomplished there. Turned out we could, and we ran right onto Pooh and Peter. :goodvibes

We moseyed back out to Main Street to watch Wishes. We could have stood absolutely anywhere we wanted – there was tons of open space. Main Street looked like this, peppered with people, basically all the way from the castle back to where we were, and there was no one behind us.

We wanted to hang toward the back to be able to get the first bus back to the Beach Club after Wishes.

I like this picture in theory – with Main Street lit up and the castle in the background behind my short head – however, we look really gross due to the camera flash in the dark night, unfortunately.

After Wishes, we were first out to the Beach Club bus stop, and a bus arrived soon after. When we got back to the BC, we of course stopped in the CL lounge to pick up some desserts, then headed back to our room to enjoy them while watching a new episode of the Office. Now you understand why it was important that we be on the first bus out of the MK! ;) I also called the bounceback line to change our September trip to the new bounceback I’d been emailed about the day before. I thought it was a bit strange to receive a bounceback offer via email rather than via cute flyer in our room, but it worked for us! The new bounceback was for 40% off for the resort for most dates in 2010, which works much better for us than the free dining bounceback we’d been previously booked under (booked it last September at the Poly). We had been booked at the Grand Floridian with free dining, but since we loved the Beach Club so much, I switched us over to Beach Club CL. Can’t wait! :thumbsup2

After our desserts, bounceback booking, and the Office, I packed up my belongings. Unfortunately, we’d be leaving the next day! :sad2:

And thus concludes our last full day. :sad1: Up next will be our last day! :sad2:

Haha, I love that you had to get on the first bus back to catch The Office! WDW vacations can only be better with some Michael Scott!

So great that Kevy is a great sport to wear the pink Mickey!

Absolutely! I couldn't remember quite why we were so insistent upon being close to the gates to get right out after Wishes, then I saw in my notes that we'd watched the Office when we got back to the BC, so of course that was why! Kevy is indeed a good sport! But I think he should have worn the shirt out in the parks. :lmao:

Great TR! I was there from the 7-13 and hated the rain but great crowd levels! I was also at the Yanks the day before you guys! Funny how we took the same trips in theory

Great update, love practically empty MK pics :)

That tie dye tee is very cool too :goodvibes

Cool! This trip was the first time we went over to Tampa, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get there from DW! :goodvibes

Thanks! It was great having the MK that empty! :thumbsup2

When we awoke on the last day of our trip, the weather was feeling as blue as I was – yesterday’s monsoon had picked up again. It was not at all conducive to inspiring us to get out and get to MGM for rope drop, as we’d been planning. So instead we enjoyed a lazy morning of leisurely packing up the last of our items and enjoying breakfast in the CL lounge. We stayed in our room until 11 am, the official check-out time, and then rolled our luggage down to the ME baggage check area. The line was gigantic, so we had to spend quite a bit of time waiting in it, which was unfortunate because all we had to do was hand in our bags. The CL had already printed out our boarding passes and they were waiting for us in the envelope that had been slipped under our door that morning (I think this was a CL perk, anyway – I don’t remember having boarding passes delivered to us in advance on our other trips). Once our bags had been taken by the luggage takers, we knew taking a Friendship over to MGM would not leave us with much time to get anything done in the park before our 12:30 ADR at Mama Melrose’s. Also, it was still downpouring, so we opted to take a cab so as to avoid walking from the back of the Beach Club to the Friendship dock and having to wait out in the rain for our ride. :umbrella:

Our cab got us to MGM in about 5 minutes (we will keep this in mind for our next trip!) and was very cheap since it was such a short ride. Once we got into MGM, we checked out Toy Story Mania to see if the rain had somehow kept the fastpass return time reasonable or the standby queue short – turned out it hadn’t, so we headed over to the Tower area. The Tower was not issuing FPs for some reason and the standby queue was listed as one hour, so that was a no-go too. :sad2: Luckily the Rockin’ Rollercoaster’s single rider line provided us with a reasonable option, so off to Hollywood we rode. :cool2:

After accomplishing our one ride, it was time for our lunch. Mama Melrose’s is a great lunch option in MGM if paying out of pocket – many of their entrees (pizzas, salads) are the same price as CS meals, and much, much better than the CS options in MGM. We all had the tomato, goat cheese, pesto pizza, but Laura’s was modified to remove the goat cheese and the chef kindly added some artichokes instead (and she got two mini pizzas instead of one larger one like Kevin and I got). This is a great restaurant for those with nut allergies – chefs there have told us they have no nuts in the restaurant, so everything is safe to eat (as long as the person is only allergic to nuts). The chefs have also been very nice about making special modifications for Laura each time we’ve been there. :goodvibes

We all enjoyed our meals and were soon on our way back into the rain, which was not so hard at this point. Our first stop was the Star Tours gift shop, where we got to meet or Twitter friend and CM Katlyn, who was building some cool light sabers! Always fun to meet our DIS/ Twitter friends! :goodvibes

We had some time to spare before we’d need to return to the Beach Club to catch the Magical Express and certainly wanted to get in another ride or two, so we walked back over to TSM. The standby wait said 50 minutes, and we decided to wait since every other ride had terrible waits and the 50 minute wait plus the ride time would put us at the exit at just the right time to get back to the BC, grab some snacks from the CL, and head to the ME.

It turned out we waited about 70 minutes or so to get on TSM, and I was seriously wondering if we’d need to skip the ride in order to get back for the ME. Right as we got up to the point where FP holders are let into the queue and up the stairs, we were stopped for at least 20 minutes (no exaggeration) and more people than I’ve ever seen holding FPs were let through. :headache: It seriously must have been everyone who’d been holding an FP since 9 am that morning going through at the same time. Was so frustrating. Thankfully, the FP holder parade finally stopped and we were let through with just enough time to allow us to ride before having to leave the park. I took a lot (really, even for me) of pictures in the queue to pass the time, using various strange settings on my camera. I won’t subject you to many. Here are a few:

What a large premium in Canada!

Once our ride was complete, we quickly made our way to the park exit and were very pleased to see a Friendship pulling in! :woohoo: We got back to the BC with enough time to allow us to make a quick stop in the CL, consume a bit of fruit, and grab some cookies and chips to go. We were glad to know that although check-out time is 11 am, CL guests have access to the lounge for the entire day of check out. Once we’d loaded up on snacks and bid the CL lounge and CMs farewell, we made our way out to the BC entrance, grabbed our carry-on bags that we’d checked earlier and waited for the ME. We watched the rain, rain, rain come down, down, down around us as we departed, which did make leaving a bit easier! Because of flight delays due to the rain and our Blackberries telling us a later boarding time than the one we actually had, we were the last people to board our flight and the gate was totally empty when we arrived – a flight attendant came out and was like, “ah you must be the ___ party – we’ve been waiting for you!”. :scared: So, we were those jerks. Luckily our seats were in one of the first rows, so there was no chance for us to see angry stares from the other passengers. We ended up being delayed on the runway for over an hour anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal, but boy, we felt stupid! Anyway, it was an exciting end to a lovely trip!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Beach Club and cannot wait to return in September! We’re still in the middle of writing our TR from last September’s trip, so if you’re interested, hop on over there!

Thanks so much to all who've been reading and commenting along – makes writing TRs so much more fun! :goodvibes

Great update :thumbsup2

Bummer that it rained on your last day, but it must have been Disney's way of showing their sadness at you guys leaving :)

Can't believe that all the FP's and rides were so packed, but I guess it makes sense as all of those are under cover, but at least you got one last ride in on TSM :)

Yikes about your flight, was really lucky you were at the front.

Its been a great read and thanks for sharing your trip with us. Look forward to reading about your September trip, which is not far away now :goodvibes

Thanks for reading and all your comments! :goodvibes We'll still be working on our TR from last September's trip probably up until this September's trip.

And, good point about the rides being packed because they were under cover. I couldn't figure out why everything was so crowded and FPs were out/ not being distributed, but I think, like we did on TSM, people probably didn't mind waiting a long time in lines since it meant dryness.

Enjoyed your TR; thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading! :thumbsup2
