Ultrafeast: Beach Club CL Trip March 2010 - New 7/6

Great update, loving all the pictures :goodvibes

Awesome that you got a walk up ressie for Le Cellier :thumbsup2

We have yet to ride TT in the dark, but are looking forward to it, love the evening pic of the entrance, looks all cool lit up :)

Great update! I'm so impressed about your walk up at LeCellier. Great score!!!

I also love Living with the Land. My mom and I both do. It's a must do for us.

Great photos!

Kevy and I look so beautiful in those matching tees!

You do! Next time I'll wear mine too. :rotfl:

I'm so impressed you got a walk-up at Le Cellier.. what a magical moment! :wizard:

Still really enjoying your TR updates popcorn::

Emma princess: x

Thanks! And yes, we were totally impressed by the Le Cellier walk-up too!

I swear I posted last night. :confused3 Weird.

Anyway, love all the Epcot pictures, of course! I came across an awesome picture of someone who I met in MGM back in...oh, '94 or '95. As soon as I get it uploaded, I will post it for you. You will love it!

Have you been watching America: The Story of Us on History Channel? Seems up your alley! There's been one episode so far and it was great!

Looking forward to more!

Can't wait to see what your MGM pic is! And I will have to check out that History Channel series - haven't heard of it, but I'm sure we'd love it!

Great Update! I love all of the pictures from Epcot. They're making me wish I was there right now. Although, when do I not wish I was at Epcot?

And I love how one scoop is always the equivalent of half a bucket of ice cream. I went to a local gourmet ice cream shop a couple weeks ago, and was shocked (and pleasantly surprised) that one scoop actually meant one scoop. It was glorious. I felt like all was right in the world. :upsidedow

I wish I were at Epcot too right now! And wow, sounds like you found the one place in the world where one scoop of ice cream is actually one scoop!

My DBF walked up to the Le Cellier podium this past trip to see if they had any openings. They had it when we asked at that moment, but we weren't hungry since we JUST finished lunch at the Electric Umbrella! I so would've rather had the mushroom filet than chicken nuggets. I couldn't justify the cost of eating at Le Cellier if I wasn't going to enjoy it on an already full stomach. Oh well, guess it's going to be saved for a future trip!

I agree that Test Track is so much more fun at night! Normally we don't ride it that late; we do single rider over and over again in the afternoon or so. But we wanted to ride together so we got FP for it. I don't know if it was just because of the dark, but I felt that it was going faster!

Lastly, when we experienced American Adventure this time for the FIRST time, I kept looking at the guy and wondering if that was "YOUR guy"! He was extremely excited to be sharing his knowledge.

That's great that you also could have gotten a Le Cellier walk-up! But it certainly makes sense not to have eaten right after you finished lunch.

And YES, that is "George"! Love that guy!

We were so happy (and surprised) to get into Le Cellier! We love Living with the Land too, but I do miss that great tune.

Sorry, it's not the best picture. See, there used to be this thing called "film" and you couldn't actually see your picture until you got back from vacation and got it "developed." ;) We have video footage of this event too. I swear to you, he waved to my vid cam!

Jealous! Of the pic, the video, whatever jazzy, circa 1994 outfit I'm sure you were rocking when taking this photo...

Big :thumbsup2!!!

Oh you want to see?? Hmm, here are some pics of me from that trip.....

I did rock the Disney t-shirts back then. And yes, that is Alex Trebek in that last picture! I met him that trip, too!

I know you are jealous of my black reebok high-tops with scrunchy socks!

And of course...ONE of the spots where Danny was about to propose to Vicky..... (We really did take this picture to commemorate!)

Sorry to hijack...it all just seems so fitting on your TR, though!

Words fail me...except: divine! Remind me why those clothes went out of style? :cool2:

And an A+ for snagging Trebek!!

And, yes, a thanks to VBsHustla/Uncle Orville for the tangent. It was sooo worth it.

OMG, love it! :woohoo: Did you know he would be there, or did you just happen to have amazingly good luck?!

And I love those pics of you from that trip! I think I had that outfit that you're wearing in the first pic. :rotfl:

I'm pretty sure it was just incredible luck!

Love the old pics, especially Steve!! Ahhhh! Before there was FRIENDS for me to obsess over, there was Full House!

My apologies for the delay in getting this up, but here we are - day 5!

This morning I awoke bright and early to find that it was not bright out at all – in fact, it was gray and rainy. :sad2: I lounged around a bit and let Laura and Kevin sleep in for about a half hour longer than planned. I knew we wouldn’t be in the mood to rush to any sort of rope drop with this weather. We had discussed going to the Animal Kingdom this day, but once we were all up and discussing the rainy situation, we decided definitively against going there in the rain. We decided instead to have a leisurely breakfast in the CL lounge and then walk over to Epcot. We did just that, and were on our way to Epcot a bit before 10 am (sleeping in in Disney is never really sleeping in ;)).

We got absolutely, miserably soaked! :sad1: It was raining hard and the wind was blowing, so water was just coming at us from everywhere. It was also cold! Boo. I have no pictures from our journey over to Epcot, since my camera surely would have been ruined by the rain.

One good thing about the rain was that it seemed to be keeping everyone else away. We walked on to Soarin’ with no issues, and then took in a showing of Laura’s fav attraction – the Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable. :simba:

We’d all been wanting to ride everyone’s other fav attraction at Epcot, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, so we headed on over to the Universe of Energy for that rousing ride. We again got wet on our way over, but the rain had let up substantially. I really do enjoy this attraction, particularly the pre-show, but it’s certainly not something I need to do every trip. Liz, who is terrified of dinosaurs, will be glad to know that I won’t need to drag her on it for our next trip.

After Ellen, we headed over to the World Showcase. It was still really chilly, but at this point it was only lightly drizzling on and off. Our first stop in the Showcase was the Mexican food stand (the real CS restaurant is under construction, so they had the Mexico food and wine fest booth set up on the left side of the pathway – no seats though). Laura got an order of guacamole and chips, and oh man, I want some more right now. Surprisingly to all of us, it was some of the best, most fresh guacamole we’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten quite a bit. :rotfl: We took Laura’s plate to the Norwegian sitting area and ate there.

832.jpg

Once finished, we were ready for a Maelstrom, so we took a ride on the Norwegian high seas, and then spent some time in our fav shop, the Fjording.

833.jpg

I was insanely tired, so I got a latte in the Norwegian bakery – perhaps it was because I hadn’t had any type of coffee in ages, but this was a really delicious latte. :thumbsup2 I can’t be sure, but I would venture to guess that this is definitely not disgusting Nescafe. I also was pleased that it was huge and less expensive than a Starbucks latte would be, so overall, a winner! I sipped as we walked around the Showcase, and then gulped it down when we arrived at the American Adventure and were told the next show was letting in right then. More good show timing for us – loved it! :goodvibes I made Laura and Kevy sit in the front row with me, since I prefer to enjoy this great attraction close up to see all of its glory.

After the American Adventure, I got some falafel takeaway from the Moroccan pavilion and we headed out of Epcot. Laura and Kevin were craving some rides on the Tower, while I was craving some falafel and warm, dry clothing, so I went back to our room while they Friendshipped it over to MGM. The rain began pouring down as I ran to the doors of the Beach Club and did not let up for the rest of the time I was in the room – I was very glad that I did not go to MGM! :woohoo:

841.jpg

845.jpg

The falafel was really good.

847.jpg

849.jpg

When Laura and Kevin came back, they were wet and sad to have only been able to ride the Tower once, and they were gone for about an hour and a half! :sad2: Very unfortunate that it was ridiculously crowded at the Tower.

It was really pouring at this point, but we had an ADR at ‘Ohana, and this was our last night, so we knew we wouldn’t get another chance to go (even if we could get reservations for another night, which would be unlikely ). Kevin had never been to ‘Ohana and we knew he would love it, and this was a night that Chef TJ (the allergy/ vegetarian specialist) was scheduled to be there – despite the monsoon, we would have to go. We got ourselves ready and decided we’d be taking a cab. No way did we want to take a bus to the MK and then get wet running to the monorail that we’d have to take to the Poly. In our cab, we remained nice and dry for our arrival at ‘Ohana.

852.jpg

We were sat soon after checking in, and Chef TJ came out to speak with Laura – she told him her allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, and soy) and that she is vegan. He was very nice and was happy and pleased each time he came to our table with a new dish for Laura. He made her six special courses in total! Kevin and I adored our standard ‘Ohana meal – I just can’t get enough of the salad, noodles, and broccoli – weird, I know! The beef and shrimp were also good. I didn’t like the pork or turkey on our last trips, so I didn’t bother with those this time. Laura loved all of her specialty items, and has recreated a few at home since then!

Here are the delicious standard items that Kevin and I ate:

They even brought Kevy a birthday cupcake – I’d told the CM when making my reservation that his birthday was a couple of weeks after our trip when they implored me for an occasion that we would be celebrating (no other restaurant brought out anything, but I did not note it on any of our ADRs).

Here are Laura’s specialty items:

Salad with a special dressing in a martini glass!
858.jpg

Tomato/ red pepper soup with homemade tortilla chips on top.
863.jpg

Mashed potatoes and potato wedges with a raspberry reduction – surprisingly delicious!
861.jpg

Bok choi and some other things.
865.jpg

White rice mound with crispy rice on the outside and vegetable tempura.
867.jpg

Frozen pina colada mix (non-alcoholic), cotton candy, Divvies chocolate chip cookies, and Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Seemingly every dessert item that Laura could eat all combined into one!

Next up: does the rain force us to return to the Beach Club, or do we get to go to the MK?

Despite the rain it looked like a great day!

All the food pictures are making me hungry ;)

I love Ellen's Energy too! I know it's a long attraction but I still find the jokes funny & the novelty of the theatre 'moving' !

Emma princess: x

Thanks for posting the pictures from Ohana. We're going there for the first time in September.

Disney in the rain is a bummer, but it looks like you were having a great time. :thumbsup2

Oooh, I love the guac from the Cantina. How wonderful of the chef at 'Ohana to do that for Laura! I mean, for a place that serves every diner the same exact thing, it's amazing that they were able to provide her with all that different food. Way to go, Disney! :thumbsup2

Great update! we found them to be very accomodationg at 'Ohana in '06 for my niece who is a vegan, too.

Yummy Yum Yum for Ohana. It sounds like Chef TJ when above and beyond with Laura's food, which is really cool and great when CM's/Disney is so accomodating :)

Boo to the rain :P It sure does come down hard there doesn't it. But at least you got a good few rides out of the day and your delicious latte too :)

Ellen's Energy Adventure is really funny, and I agree, cool that it moves! It was quite packed when we went because people wanted to avoid the rain, I guess, so a nice little boost for that ride! :thumbsup2

Hope you love 'Ohana in September, and congrats on getting it during free dining! :goodvibes That was one of the first ADRs I made for our upcoming September trip.

I know, right? Disney is generally great about providing special diet food, but 'Ohana went above and beyond. :thumbsup2 Chef TJ in particular has a great reputation for providing great meals for those with food allergies/ dietary restrictions.

Thanks! It's a nice surprise that a restaurant that's known for its meat is one of the best restaurants for vegans!

Chef TJ really was great with Laura's meal! The rain does seem to come down harder in central Florida than anywhere else I've been! If that had been my first time in DW and the only day I were spending there, the rain would have been a bummer, but since that is certainly not our situation , it was no big deal.
