Ultimate Planning spreadsheet for the iPad *pdf files coming soon*

Hey all, wow this thread blew up while I was at work, I will reply to everyone when I get home.

I was thinking about making this an app, but for now it's just a numbers spreadsheet so I will share with anyone who might want it. (when it's closer to being done)

What app is this?

This is numbers. you can get it for 9.99 on the app store

This looks great! Maybe a meal points worksheet for several people?

hmm, good idea.

Ooohhh...I am super excited for this! Will it work on my original Ipad?

Yes, numbers will work on the ipad and iphone. Hey,, so ya, you could use this on the iphone as well, never thought of that

How about transportation? ie: flight res. and/or town car, shuttle, ME, etc.
Under Parks, how about a "must do's" list?
Just some thoughts, it looks great!

I have a transportation tab as well, not finished so I did not post a pic, but its coming. :-)

what do you mean by must do's? Attractions at the park for that day?

Also, maybe some color coding for "recommended" parks vs. parks to avoid for those of us that use TGM or TouringPlans? Looks awesome - I'd love to have a copy!!! You going to make it available as an app? :goodvibes

hmm,,, good idea. I will have to think about where I can work that in. Could be on the park hours section.

What a great spreadsheet! I would love a copy when you are done.

It might be hard to keep up-to-date, but how about a checklist for Pressed penny locations or character meet and greet locations?

You've done a great job!

Thats funny, I am working on a pressed penny/hidden mickey pin check list for an app, I could put it in here. I will work on it. But could be a big project

That's really nice.

I really like how you've laid out the expense report. I do something like this when we go but in excel; list amount spent for the day/trip, and also break it down on food/gifts type.

I'd certainly like to get a copy. Do you plan on putting this on iTunes and giving Apple 30%? ;)

The budget part is great. After you enter in all the info it will show an overview on the main page with amount left to save. Will also break down via "paydays" to help you save. When you update the amount you have saved it will make the adjustments. Since I am Canadian there is a section where you can add the exchange and it will track it as well.

I have a spreadsheet I do in excel.

A few things I include in my spreadsheet:
Parade and show times (consult Steve Soares' website)
A list of must-do rides and attractions, and the best time to ride them
A tips page - like the best places to catch the parades or the fireworks.

Good job, your spreadsheet looks awesome!

I love the tips idea, thanks.

Cool !

I'm leaving in 8 days - I'd love to have something like on my iPad. I'm going to have to check out this numbers app.

Don't think I will have anything done for you in 8 days, but there is always next trip.

Once its a bit more "polished" I am willing to share the file.

Anyone who is interested in this just PM me your email and I will be sure to send it out once its ready.

Keep in mind you will need the numbers app on your ipad/iphone or your mac to use this file. You can get the app for your ipad/iphone for 9.99, just search in the app store.

Numbers should also let you save the file as an Excel spreadsheet, for those of us with Documents To Go.

Also, with excel (and numbers) people could create the spreadsheet on their computer, most people have excel (or open office is free) and it's free to view the file on the iPad.

I don't like you very much. I was trying not to justify the purchase of an iPad. I think that this puts me over the edge. If my husband asks then I will blame you. :rolleyes1

While numbers will let you export the file to an excel file it will not keep the format in a relatable state. It won't work as you intend it to.

I picked numbers for the ease of use and vary clean look. Excel is great, but much more work for the "clean" look.

Plus I am an apple fan boy at the moment.

For everyone the PMed me rest assured I got your email. I did not reply to everyone as the list of interested peeps is quite long.

PM on it's way.

Had an idea which I used in Excel for my previous two trips..

In the spreadsheet I made the following columns that was used for budget and actuals

Date | Category | Item | Paid To | Amount | Customs |

Before I left I filled in a heap of stuff for example

5 May | Food | Tips | Fancy Restaurant | $20 | N |
5 May | Spending | General | Necklace | $100 | Y |

These items was what I had budgeted to get. As the trip progressed each night I would sit down and update these amounts into actuals, and total each day. Perhaps adding lines.

I also have $100/day to spend $1000 over 10 days that isn't yet listed above. At the end of day 1 I have $50 of it.

Day 2 the spreadsheet updates letting me know that I have $950 remaining over 9 days or $105 per day. The opposite would occur if I went the other way!

Same on day 3 etc.

Same can occur with the planned money. Using the above at the end of day 1, of the $120 above I had only spent $100, the remaining $20 would be evenly spread over the non-planned money for the remainder of the trip.

I hadn't started converting my sheet over to numbers yet, but am happy to help. While my Excel skills are really good, learning where things are in numbers leaves me a little stumped at times!

Also, coming from Australia and dealing with exchange issues, it used that conversion along the way! I believe the Au and Canadian are very close at the moment.

I'll also try it here (that part) and can forward to you if you like to include in your spreadsheet.

Interesting idea, PM coming.

Ditto this for Android. Would love it. What numbers app is this? Who is the developer? I just looked and there's a bunch of "numbers" apps.

its literally called "Numbers" and I believe it is an Apple product.

Yah, don't get me wrong, I'm an Apple user here and I own iWork. I love iWork for its ease of use, but IMO Excel is a necessary evil for it's compatability.

I also just wanted to mention, if you happen to be a Mac user who owns Numbers, you can create your spreadsheat on the Mac and you can still view it for free on the iPad (or iPhone for that matter) so you do not need to buy the iPad version of Numbers. (you won't be able to edit, but you can view without it).

No argument there from me.

Keep in mind I created this for one reason, to use on my ipad, so I am not worried about compatibility.

I don't have an iPad (yet!), but that is gorgeous. Will definitely be getting an iPad 2 before my next trip and I'm now even more excited because I'll get to create something like that. Cool.

Hey Everyone,

Lots of people are forgetting to include your email when sending me a pm. Please check to make sure you sent it, if not, forward it over. :-)

I will be spending the weekend at the Toronto Indy, so wont have much time to work on it, but I hope to have a version I can send out late next week.

Thanks all,

So I sent out the first round today. If you did not get it send me your email again.

I'm working on a few new tabs

Packing list
Must do attractions
DDP points tracker
Meal planner
Grocery shopping list

If anyone as any ideas, let me know.

I have a spreadsheet (not as elaborate or nice as yours) that I've been recycling for a while. Some more ideas for you based on that:

1. I put a pre-travel checklist of things to do going from pre-planning to planning to day of travel. (ie turn off ice-maker, have mail held, turn down heat on hot water tank, pay bills, get cash out of ATM, make ADR's etc...)
2. I also subscribe to another website (unnamed at this point ;) ) that lists the best / worst parks to go to and work that into my trip itinerary (may work in your park hours tab).
3. I also have a tab in my spreadsheet that has luggage tags made up that I print out and slip into our luggage tag holders - it has our name, address, cell phone number, dates of travel and resort hotel we're staying at. If the luggage gets lost, they can either call us or have it shipped directly to the hotel....

Hope this helps.
