It is my understanding that with a WDW Package you may not have the first or last day removed off the UPH's in case of extreme late arrival or extreme early departure. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this??

Vicki, I'm going to be a first time visitor to WDW and had the same dilemma. If you wait until you arrive at your Disney World hotel to purchase the UPH pass, you can have them take off the first and/or last day. The only drawback is that you won't be able to get the advance purchase discount which may not matter anyway if you'll end up saving money on the days where you're arriving late and leaving early. Another option may want to keep in mind (which is what we're doing) is when you arrive in Orlando, you can stay at an inexpensive hotel off property, maybe near the airport if you're flying in, and then get up early the next morning, check in at your Disney hotel and get your passes which double as your room key. If your room isn't ready yet, you can leave your luggage with Bell Services. That way you'll be able to take full advantage of the pass as long as you don't have to leave too early on your last day.

Your understanding of UPH's included in packages is correct. The passes cannot be modified in any way by the resort. You cannot drop any days from them and you cannot upgrade them to AP/PAP's.

You can do as Castillo Mom suggests or you could make three separate reservations at your resort to cover 1)your arrival day, 2) the days you want the UPH and 3) your departure day. The drawback to doing this is you will have to put down 3 deposits and you will have to go to the front desk and re-checkin for each reservation. But it could save you money so you'd have to do the math in your situation to find out.

One other thing to consider: if this reservation is part of the FTP package, you will be getting free days on the UPH so if you didn't use a couple of them, it really isn't costing you any money.
