UK flu?

DS 15 had flu the week before Xmas and ended up having the last week of term off school. In all honesty, he's only just getting back to normal.

I'm a Doctor's Receptionist and we've had numerous calls every day relating to flu symptoms. I'm in the firing line when people want the flu jab and they're not in the at risk groups :headache:

Saying that, I wouldn't cancel a holiday over it. I think the more it's in the news, the more people are panicking. Originally only a small amount of people that we sent letters to had the vaccine but now the phone never stops ringing since it made the headlines.

I don't know anyone who's had it.

People I know with little kids have had coughs and colds, and also the standard vomiting that school kids seems to get each winter.

But no bad flu or anything, and I can't see I've seen much on the news. Seems to all be about the goverment, cricket and a murder case that is getting the airtime.

I have been out to several people who have called an ambulance because they have flu. Most if not all have stayed at home as its the last thing the hospital need to deal with at the moment.

My local hospital are at full capacity & on several occasions we have been waiting with the patient on our stretcher for over 2 hours for A&E to admit them as they don't have the space.

I personally wouldn't cancel a trip due to flu, every year hundreds die from it. It isn't anything new.
