UK Candy

So, I am going to be in Epcot in exactly 1 week from today. I am looking to get my hands on candy from the Tea Caddy shop in the UK pavilion. My grandmother's brother always brought boxes of Cadbury stuff over when he would visit, and it evokes fond memories for me to have 'British candy'.

Can anyone help me, or tell me, what's available? I remember the Flake, as it is my favorite. The rest however, is only bits and pieces.

I have vague recollections of something called Crunchie, something called Aero, and something with a honeycomb like middle. The words Double Decker are also springing to my mind, but I don't remember if this is a candy bar, or some odd euphamism. I think they also sell Kit Kat's but I can get those here.

Pictures would be awesome, but I'll settle for a list. Anyone been recently who has a better memory than me? I think I'll have to take pics next week, so that I can remember better. :D

TIA for any assistance!

Do you have a car with you? If so save yourself a small fortune and go to a Publix grocery store and stock up for 1/2 the price

Wherever you go remember to bring a little cooler with you. Chocolate melts quick in this heat especially the Aero bars. BTW, I second Publix if you can get there. Much cheaper than EPCOT.

I'm going to have to try some American chocolate when I'm out there - everyone on the uk forums say that Hersheys tastes like vomit!

I will have to try!!! :rotfl2:

OMG... I'm not the only one who thinks that about Hersheys!!!!!

With regard to OP, definitely get yourself to Publix - it's the real thing too, not made in US under licence. Sorry I'm not coming over for another 3 weeks or I would have gladly brought you a whole box of Flake or Double Decker (they have a chocolate crumb base and a soft nougat top, all covered in thick milk chocolate). Would have swapped for a box of Mars Midnight Milky Way...my fave US choc bar, rivalled only by Reeses Nutrageous!!!!

This sounds interesting, I've only known about the tea they sell in the UK. The candy makes it worth the stop:goodvibes

Thanks for the pieces of advice y'all.

1: I will not have a car, so that's out. :cool2:

2: I plan on eating it immediately, so a cooler isn't needed. :woohoo:

3: I'm on the dining plan, and will use some snack credits for these purchases. So cost isn't a concern either. :yay:

Thanks for the concerns for my wallet. :thumbsup2

I wish you had asked this question 3 months ago! No pictures :sad1: We did get several things in this store on our last day as we had several snack credits needing to be used. We got the Flake, which was very good. I also got some sort of Cadbury bar with nuts in it (similar in make-up to a Mr. Goodbar, but shaped differently), which was great. And if you're a coconut fan, they have one called Bounty, or Bounty Bar, or something similar. It was simply chocolate covering a coconut filling (blue and white wrapping). Very similar to a Mounds bar. There were lots of other options too from what I recall.

Try doing a search in this forum though. I remember before my trip there was a very large thread about all the candy in the UK pavilion. This is what prompted me to use our credits here in the first place. Good luck! :goodvibes

ETA: Okay, I think this was the thread I had originally seen: here It was in the Theme Parks forum. They were talking about candy in general from the pavilions. Anyway, hope it helps!

Thanks for the link SBPrincess. I will check it out. I leave in 2 more days, so I doubt I am going to get much help. Maybe I will take pics myself, and get several strange look from the Brits manning the store.

I wish I could help out with pictures, but I can't remember even seeing Cadbury's chocolate... but then I kind of skip past the UK pavillion since I live here - hehe.

Take pics and don't worry about the looks - I take pics of all things American and it's fine!

You might want to take a look at this link from Cadbury's... it might give you an idea of what you want to drool over. I love Cadburys chocolate (the UK stuff, not the US stuff) Enjoy spending those snack credits and indulging =)

I fell in love with Cadbury Buttons while I was on vacation in London a few years back. I literally squealed with delight when I found them in Epcot at the UK Pavillion! The CMs always laugh when I walk up to the counter with at least 10 bags of them. I feel like I should clarify that I don't eat them all at once (though I probably could) and give a few bags to a couple of other Cadbury fans that I work with ;) Anywho, I will also buy the occasional Flake bar too.

About Publix, not all stores sell British food. Mine only just started selling it (and yes, I absolutely loaded up on candy) but others in town don't.

I think the Publix stores in this area sell more because there are so many Brits who own vacation homes around here. Our Publix has a pretty good selection not only of candy but other food imports from the UK. My favorite snack when I was in the UK were the Cadbury Brunch Bars. Blows any granola bar here right out of the water!

While I agree you can get the candy cheaper at Publix, there's something to be said for the instant gratification of picking up a bar or two at Epcot. When I'm staying at one of the Epcot resorts, I'll often stop there on the way out of the park to take a snack back to the resort with me.

I buy my real Cadbury's stuff at Whole Foods. :) The U.K. Pavillion doesn't always have all the brands that Cadbury offers in the U.K. But, for some reason our local Whole Foods always has it! I know I should get lots of healthy stuff to go along with it, but most of my order is Cadbury's.

This an awesome link, MyBubbles. At least it gives me an idea of what might be there! Take a cookie out of petty cash.

As a brit i can fill in some names/descriptions

Flake: a long think circular chocolate bar which flakes off as you're eating and leaves lots of crumbs

Crunchie: Chocolate bar containg honycomb covered in chocolate

Aero: bubbly chocolate, melts in the mouth, the mint version is the best.

Double Decker: very thick/filling chocolate bar containg nougat & cereal pieces.

Curly Wurly: Long thin choclate in an open plait, contaings chewy caramel.

Fruit & Nut: chocolate bar containing peanuts & raisins

Whole nut: choclate bar containing peanuts

Buttons: bag of button sized & shaped chocolate, in milk & white chocolate

I am wondering......will they deliver the candy to your hotel as they will with other purchased goods?

I am not too keen on carrying a cooler around epcot with me, but I obviously don't want them to melt.

Thanks for this info! I have an idea of what to get this time around, in addition to my standard Flake bar.

I have no compunction about saving them for later. :cool2: They's getting eaten right away!
