UK Bride buying dress in USA

Hi everyone,
I'm getting married in May 07 in WDW and I'm starting to look at dresses. I'm not what you'd call slim, and the choice in the UK if you're over a size 18 is horrifically small. I've been looking on the net and have seen some really cool dresses in Florida retailers (specifically Alfred Angelo)

Has anyone out there from the UK bought a dress in America? I guess I'd be thinking of going out to Florida October time, bringing dress home or having it sent home to UK and getting alterations done in UK.

Does this sound like a totally crazy thing to do? My fiance is very keen on a trip to Florida this year, just so he doesn't have to wait till May 07 for his next USA trip!

Has anyone done anything like this before? Would really love to know if you have!

Hi Miranda, im from the UK and i did look into doing that but in the end i decided against it. Have you looked at the Alfred Aangelo dresses you can get in the UK?

Hi Miranda,
I just wanted to add that Maggie Sottero go up to a size 32 UK so you'd have no problems getting into one of her designs. She has a wide choice availible here in the UK, her website is www.maggiesottero.com and on there is a list of stockist in the UK.

Thanks for posting the details on Maggie Sottero they certainly have a nice selection of dresses. I too am going to be a disney bride in May 07. I'm doing the Swan & Dolphin option on the 1st May
