Well I had to share this. Normally I do not say to much about things like this. Yesturday I needed to go to the grocery store for a few things I missed for baking. Well upon my return home I noticed black grounds all over the place and thought WTH? I watch a dog and she has a habit to get into mischief. Well I discovered what my christmas gift was from my SIL. Hotel Coffee. Thats right we get all sorts of stuff that we dont use.

Mind you we are talking a person who makes a great 6 figure income. I see what she spends on this side of the family. Her daughter gets gifts way beyond expensive. I personally dont care if I get anything or not. But if I were my BIL I think I would be embarrased to wrap up the samples of hotel coffee and give that as a gift. I cant wait to see what the other 3 gifts are. By the way her husband doesnt need to work. But I do send everyone the same amount of gift card item. We are no where they are in terms of money, but it makes me happy to give them something. I think though I may stop giving to them I dont want to make the suit case over 50 pounds for coffee samples. Yes she travels and works for the hotel industry. OH Well.. I will have to

Takes all kinds -- just consider the source and move on. We've received real doozies over the years. And it's likely BIL doesn't have a clue as to what she sent -- my DH is not particularly involved in our gift-giving, to either side of the family.

It beats the rock we got from my MIL one year. It was a family gift, straight from their driveway.

We got the rock the same year we bought them patio furniture.

I look at it this way; it provides entertainment that is worth much more than the gift itself.

I think we have the same SIL. We finally stopped exchanging gifts with them because the gifts for my son got worse and worse. They have 3 children and I always bought all three something nice. One year she sent DS, about 2 at the time, a Barney the Dinosaur bowl. I thought it was so cute until I saw the bowl, plate, cup and spoon set at the store. She just sent him the bowl. Every year after that, no kidding, DS's gift would get "lost in the mail", forget to mail it, didn't get in with the other gifts my mother was delivering to us for her. It got to be a joke. I finally decided a few years ago to just not send her kids a gift and see what happens. Well no gift for DS as expected and no word from her. It has been about 7 years now and I am just fine with that.

I have a friend who went to Hawaii and made a big deal about how she was bringing everyone back souvenirs. She brought back the hotel sample coffees. I wasn't a recipient of the coffee, I just heard from other friends who were laughing about it. Maybe it's a new trend?

Well I dont feel so alone now. I guess they think we wont catch on. The only reason I would stop the gifting is I really dont want money wasted on things that My husband and I would not use. I have never compared with the rest of the family what they got from them and I will never do that. But in certain instances I have seen what they buy father for dads day. I dont think my BIL has much say in the marriage. Do you know what kind they were? Did they try them? I dont think I will.
