Uh Oh, Stuck Going over TG 2016 - How Bad Will This Be?

I've been planning a return to the Dark Side for the last four years with all family members involved, and now have found out that, due to a career move by one of them, the only time we can get everyone there is over Thanksgiving weekend in 2016. Tentative dates are 11/24/16 through 11/29/16 (Thursday, TG day through Tuesday).

We will stay at either HRH or RP, so will have FOTL access for most attractions, but I see other issues. Like, high costs for flights and rooms, crowded restaurants, and the dreaded "waiting" (the Disney World curse) for most everything more so than at other times of the year.

My preference was to go in early December, but that's off the table. I'm a long time lurker on this board, so I am aware of the ramifications of travelling over a major holiday, but is there anything you can tell me/advise me that will make me feel better about this situation? I am expecting the worst as someone who hates crowds - and waiting - for anything.

We haven't been on TG but have driven down that day and did other things for a couple days before hitting the parks. On the Sunday after, it really wasn't that bad as the school kids were heading back. We've been over Christmas/New Years before - even spending the New Year's Eve 1999 in US/IOA. We were off-site and still did tons thanks to single rider line and smart touring. We didn't have a formal plan, we were just aware enough of what to do when using some common sense. So, plan on single rider line for thanksgiving and the day or two after. We will be driving down on thanksgiving again this year, but Sat is the first day that we can hit the parks. I'm not sure if it will be worth it crowd-wise for us, being a family where single rider can't be done easily. But Im sure we can handle it from Sunday on.
