Hi everyone!
We cruise in just 17 days on Western Magic (12/4), our 1st 7, but 2nd Disney cruise! I am so happy to have found this forum as I've learned a lot from all the posts.
I have a dilemma I was hoping some of you very seasoned DCL travellers could help me with...
We booked a gty cat 12 hoping for an upgrade. On our last cruise we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a deluxe outside stateroom (is that cat 9?). This time we've been upgraded to a deluxe inside stateroom, which I was happy with (we do favor the split bath) but I see that our room, 2535, is in what is known as "noisy" area!!! I'm not too worried about the noise during the day, but it is important that my kids that are 6 & 8 yrs old sleep well at night or our trip won't be a very happy one!:(
Any suggestions? Are we in for trouble with this location? Is the mechanical equipment really that loud?
Thank you so much for any insight!

Just got back from the 11/6 Magic and we had room 2541. I wouldn't choose that room again if I could help it. It was right under the dance floor of Rockin' Bar D and when the band was playing and jumping around on stage, I thought they were going to land on my head. It wasn't so bad when the DJ was playing, but the band was annoying. My kids (5 and 8) had a hard time falling asleep a couple of nights, so we just turned the TV on (a little louder than we would have liked) and let them fall asleep while watching that.

On the positive side ... my kids slept much later in the morning, which meant I got to sleep later too. I don't think we made it to breakfast before 9:30 all week (except for Saturday).

I was a little further down in 2542... the noise we experienced was faint music/base from Wavebands, the adult night club, which was above us. It wasn't loud, but you could hear it.. but it wasn't anything having low-volume tv couldn't drown out.

Still, if you need TOTAL silence to sleep, then won't get it. But then again, it wasn't anything that kept me up at all. I really hardly noticed it.

How about rooms 2515 and 2513? I can't sleep with noise. I sleep very light since my kids were born. What is above these rooms? Is the whole floor noisy?

Those are under Diversions which is not home to loud bands unlike Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D. I stayed in 2518 on the Magic earlier this year and I heard absolutely nothing from upstairs. A bit further aft, though, and you could hear the bass coming thru the ceiling from the night club above.

Your rooms are also far forward, so you're less likely to have noise from the hallways. I think your only worry would be noisey neighbors - which is a concern anywhere on the ship.

I'm cruising again next month and booked 2510 - a bit forward from the prior room of 2518.

We were in 2528 on the 11/04 Wonder. We remarked how quiet the hall was considering that we were right across from the elevators. We found the first night quiet, but we were also gone from 11:30 - 2:00 to see the premiere of the Incredibles. The next night there was some loud noise that woke us up, like they were dragging something across the floor above us. The last morning there was the noise of what I think was the luggage ramp being dragged out before daylight. Even though that room was not listed as a noisy room, we thought that it was.

We were in 2647 this past summer, Aft. On the mornings we were docking somewhere, which was every morning on the Wonder, those thrusters they need to use to guide us into dock were like an airplane landing in our room. It took about an hour to get into port, so we were awake bright and early every day. Kind of a bummer when you're in an inside cabin and it's so dark and you're sleeping so good and then, waalaa, built in alarm clock!

We were in 2544 last year and in April we're booked for 2546, 2544 is on the noisy room list I don't know if 2546 is, but I don't care. My room was not noisy AT ALL. I was all stressed out for nothing. Lets face it, your on a boat, you're towards the bottom, you're gonna hear something, probably the engine sounds once in a while, but its nothing, trust me. I'm a light sleeper and there was never any noise to bother me, so it couldn't have been that bad. Don't worry about it! Have a great time!

 Thanks for easing my mind! I guess I won't let it bother me. The important part to remember is....JUST OVER 2 weeks and we set sail!!! A little noise in our room can't ruin the fun!!

No the noise won't ruin your fun but be aware of the defective seal on the porthole. On the first night when the seas were a bit high we woke to find three inches of water in our cabin.

You're kidding, right? Those portholes are FAR above the waterline. I cannot envision 3 inches of water coming through even if the window was completely gone.

We just got back from a 7nt cruise in one of the listed noisy rooms on Deck 2. I'm not going to say which one in case our neighbors post here. It was really awful, especially since we've always been on Deck 7 or 8. We heard noise from the clubs, but the most noise was from the connecting room. We could hear their toilet flushing and heard most of their conversations. We were woken up almost every day by their children fighting with eachother and it really influenced our vacation.

I think you'd agree that having noisy neigbors can happen anywhere on the ship and is not unique to deck 2 - especially in connecting rooms which can be found in all categories on all decks.

My last room was a connecting room as well and we were able to hear our neighbors quiet clearly as well.

Yes of course I am kidding. (Maybe!)

Hey I had that room and it had locusts.

By the way Par8hed, I have been trying to PM you and your mailbox is full, not sure if you're aware so I thought I'd mention it here.
