Uh, I didn't get it...

So, me and my friend, (out of school, will not do grammar right), were going around Target, getting candy and telling everyone we passed, "Happy Holidays and have a great New Year" because we are idiots and dumb like that. So, we tell it to this one guy and he's like 60 and he goes "That is not right. I don't celebrate Christmas so stop saying that." My friend and i looked at each other and were like, "oh, sorry..."


I dont know if he was in a bad mood or what, but i don't find that offensive to say Happy Holidays even if you don't celebrate Christmas. Any thoughts???

I always thought Happy Holidays was just telling everyone to have a great December, and the last 2 weeks of December which 99% of people consider the Holidays, you were not in the wrong here, but Scrooge was. If I were you I would have told him off. LOL

the jehovah witnesses do not celebrate any holiday that has any type of pagan origin or pagan influence.
Jehovah's Witness do celebrate the Memorial of the observance of the Last Supper.

Your right. Its spelt Jehovahs Witness and they wouldnt say something like that; its none of their business if someones giving out candy canes. All they would have to say is no thank you.

I should think so...considering Pagen has a HUGE influence on Christianity...if it is not the origin lol.

I doubt he is a Jehovah's Witness because they aren't rude like that. Like I said they would probably just say no thank you we dont celebrate that or something but not that. I would know. And you dont know if he was Jehovah's Witness or not; he could have been Jewish or some other religion...

Not everyone is the same way. To classify every person in a religion as someone who wouldn't say something like that is stereotyping lol.

Why do you find that offensive? I mean if they dont celebrate it they shouldnt be obliged to say it. I mean take Jewish people, they don't celebrate Christmas they celebrate Hannukah and they dont need to say it. You could also take Jehovah's Witness.

When you study a religion then you study that and you shouldnt be forced to say or do something just because other people find a problem with that. It's your religion, your faith, and your beliefs.

True, but I know that alot aren't going to say that. I mean they don't celebrate holidays or birthdays, but that doesnt mean they act that way. Although I do get your point of view of where your coming from...
