Ugly legs - what to do?

I can join the ugly leg club - but mine is from too much sun exposure. I've got a nice long scar on the back of my leg, with a lot of tissue removed, due to melanoma. It's going to be hard for me this summer, as I've always planned to have that 'healthy' tan by the end of June. No sun for me anymore!

I've got three bottles of the Jergens stuff coming in the mail soon. All the other stuff I've tried doesn't look good with my hair/ eye color. You can just tell it's not the color I would be be naturally!

I use Bath & Body Works "tan-do attitude" sunless tanning foam (with bronzer) and it seems to have pretty good results. I do make sure that I use a shower sponge or sea sponge and exfoliate pretty well before. And I use a decent moisturizer first and let that completely dry before I apply the foam, seems to make things go on more smoothly-no worry about lines, too much color in certain areas, etc... Then just wash my hands up really well afterward and let it dry for a few minutes before getting dressed. It has a slight smell, but nothing like most self-tanners. Right now B&BW is having a huge sale and I have these for 75% off (2.50).

I've been hoping to try the Jergens product, but I can't get my hands on it anywhere and I refuse to pay eBay prices for it. I also read a good review about Olay's Quench Radiance Reviver which appears to do the same thing as the Jergens lotion (read about it in real simple magazine) so if you can't find the Jergens maybe you can find this one?

GL! & I agree, I do things to feel better about myself, not worry about what anyone else thinks. :)

The Jergens lotion is on eBay? Dang, my Wal-Mart was fully stocked last night. I should have snagged a few for resale! :rotfl2:

For those who are dealing with issues other than pale skin, such as spider veins or scars, you might want to consider Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. It's a very nice product that leaves your legs with a hint of color, but also a little bit of translucent coverage - the same effect as if you powdered your face. You'd have to reapply it daily, since it washes off, but it looks a lot more natural than a fake tan on those of us who are *very* pale, and it hides things that a tanner/bronzer doesn't.

I ordered the Jergen's stuff from cvs.com, not off of ebay. It was supposed to come today, but it hasn't :(

Didn't know B&BW had a self-tanner! I don't like the smell from the tanning stuff either.

I bet my legs are whiter than yours. I'm in Ireland and we don't see much sun - shield thine eyes Florida, here I come :teeth:

You are too funny! LOL!

I am fair skinned as well. I use the Jergens Natural Glow, which is designed for fair skin tones. But on my last trip to the drug store, they were out so I purchased the Banana Boat Summer Color Sunless. It also worked very nicely.

Good luck! :flower:

Ok I'll say try Bare Escentuals as it has a broze color and is gel so I never have that white line down the back of my legs where I missed because I see where it goes. It also never turns my orange smells good and gives me that instant color plus darkens over 3 hours. It's also easier IMHO to put just where you want it such as legs, arms face chest without looking funny that the rest doesn't match. I also thinks it looks natural, to the point that my neice asked how I got tan when I ALWAYS use suncreen.

The key to using self tanners is to rub it in and then keep rubbing it in! The first time I used one 15 yrs ago my friend didn't explain that part to me and I ended up with streaks all over. I start with a quarter sized dollap on my shin. I rub it all over the front of my leg and calf till it's 90% rubbed in. Then whatever is left on my hand I use to rub into the top of my foot. Just do the top and try to avoid any dry or cracked areas on the sides of your foot or heels (mine are dry, anyway :guilty: !). Then I take another dollap the same size and start on the front of my thigh and work my way around to the back. When it's almost all rubbed in I rub my hands over my knee. You really don't need much lotion on your knees so be careful there! Then I wash my hands real good and start on the other leg. If your hands are dry at all they will turn a little orange on your palms. I don't get dressed for at least 10 minutes. Beware the lotion will start to stink after a couple hours!
