I feel like the worst mom today.....okay, DD9 had to get stitches on Thursday night after falling at the park and cutting her hand pretty badly. Because of this she has not been sleeping well due to the pain etc. She felt lousy most of the weekend and had a low grade fever yesterday afternoon. Not sure if the fever was from the laceration or something else, but I called the Dr and she said to watch her and call again in the AM if the fever is still there or her laceration looks infected. Because DD hasn't been sleeping well, I decided to let her sleep in today so she can catch up.

She gets up at 9:45, temp normal, feels much better. She wants to go to school so we get ready etc. I am moving in slow motion today because I hurt my back yesterday and am in no particular hurry to get her moving. I dropped her off at 10:45 (school starts at 9:15). Hey, it's the last week of school, she's 9, she won't be missing anything important right? Not so much....she had qualified to be in a Game 24 competition and can you guess when the competition was??? Yup, today at 10:30. :headache: She missed her competition and it's my fault:sad2::sad2:

I feel like the worst mom ever :guilty:

Game 24 is a math game that they play in her class...a card has 4 numbers on it. You have to add, subtract, multiply or divide the numbers to equal 24. She's pretty good at it and she was quite proud that she made it to the competition. It wasn't a regional competition or anything, just between the other 3rd grade classes, but she was looking forward to it :guilty:

If she knew that the competition was today, then she should have made sure that you knew to get her to school on time

she knew it was today and so did I, but with the crazyness of the stitches and her not feeling well over the weekend, we both forgot I guess.

If your daughter is fighting an infection, then it's more important that she catch up on her sleep and be well-rested. I wouldn't worry about a competition at this point. You're not a terrible mom.

Seriously--You've never forgotten anything. Especially when under stress. That is a bit harsh, IMO.

Cheer up OP--Your not a bad mom, but things like this sure make us feel like it huh.

It may be a big deal right now but, honestly, on my bad-mom-o-meter that's about a -2!:rotfl:
She'll forget all about it and so will you. No harm done. ;)

Don't feel bad, you are not a bad mom!!! I agree that her resting and feeling better is way more important!

thanks guys...I feel I should have remembered since I'm the Mom, you know?
And I feel like the secretary gave me the evil eye when I dropped DD off today. She asked, "did you have an appointment for your hand this morning?" and I told her DD had not been feeling well and I let her sleep in. She gave me the hairy eyeball and said, " well Mrs XXX was looking for you". At the time I was like okay whatever, she's here now, no big deal, but now I know she must have been referring to the competition DD missed. Ah well....I'm sure it won't be the last time I do something stupid that my kids will hang over my head later right??

You're not a bad mom - not by any stretch of the imagination.. She wasn't feeling well - you weren't feeling well - and she ended up going to school late.. Certainly not anything to beat yourself up about - competition or not..
