I have been creating slide shows with Adobe Photoshop, but this time I wanted to use Power Point for 2 reasons. One, I can resize the photos, and two I was hoping to put in my own music.

I have the PowerPoint slide show just the way I want it EXCEPT I can't get the music to work. I want to take a few tracks from a CD and have it be the background music.

How on earth can I do this????? I am doing it on a laptop with no Internet access. I want to get 2 or 3 different CD tracks to play through.

Thanks,
Karen

Let me see if I can help you. I have done this with my kids at school and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Put the cd in that you want to use. Make sure that it doesn't start playing. GO to the slide that you want to add the music to. Then go to insert----(I just opened it up to find out) movies, sounds ---play cd audio track. Then another window will pop up. You tell it which track you want it to play. Now if the songs are not back to back then you might have to do this on several different slides. Then there is somewhere either on slide transistion or custom animation that you click if you want the song to continue playing through___ number of slides. I can't find that right now because I have a different version of Powerpoint at home.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please ask. You can PM me and I can try to help.

Thanks Megan's Mom. DH and DS 14 are determined to make it work. I think I have been to the place you are talking about. I have the visual slide show ready to go, but this music is being a real pain!! I think we are missing some small step some where.

<font color=navy>I have a question, though. I THINK that the music isn't actually loaded in the powerpoint slide. You may have to copy the music from your cd to your computer, and then insert it in your powerpoint.

I did a powerpoint slideshow for my daughter's 8th grade dinner, and had the music going and everything, but the night of the dinner it didn't work, so what I did was set the music up (using Music Match), and played the music to the slides. It worked pretty well. :)

I hope you can get it to work for you.

The way that I suggested it you would have to have teh cd each time you wanted to play the powerpoint. You could also download the song to the computer and then do it the same way that I told you the only difference would be that you didn't have to have the cd. If you have a microphone with your computer you could record it into the presentation. I just remembered that a student of mine did that year before last. It sounds just as good and you can even record your voice reading the program.

DH and DS are still working on it. They saved the music to mp3 and then added it to the slide show. It seems as though we are getting closer.

By George, I think we have it!!!! Leave it to a 14 year old to figure it out!! All I have to do is clean up a few pictures, burn it to a CD, and hope the music stays!!

If it is a mp3 it should still be there. That is how I learn a lot of the things about the software I work with I let the kids loose with it. It is amazing what they can figure out to do with things. I'm glad you have figured it out. I think Powerpoints are fun to work with. I have the kids do one or two a 9 weeks.

Karen,
The easiest, most surefire way to be sure that you don't "lose" the music is to burn the tracks onto the same CD that you burn the presentation onto. Also, if you plan to save the presentation, put it and the accompanying music into a folder labelled with the name (and date) of the presentation. It's frustrating to have to reinvent the wheel a couple of months from now if you want to make another copy of the show!
I do a fair number of these for work, some with up to 10 or twelve clips that have been edited to fit the presentation, and I would probably tear my hair out if I hadn't figured this out sooner rather than later!
