Ugh - SWA just delayed their late summer release date from 2/12 to 3/12.

I used to be such a SWA cheerleader, from their low fares, friendly staff, and easy change policy. But their rates have gone way up and as I planner I really like to just get things booked. They've likely lost my business for our August trip now. It was already killing me to wait until 2/12! And I don't care about the dumb Max8 excuse. Its grounded, time to adjust and move on.

Sorry. Rant over.

It isn't an excuse. They need to come up with ways to cover the loss of that aircraft to their fleet. Five months is more than adequate to plan and book a flight.

Well the other airlines have figured out how to do it. And especially with Disney, I'm forced to lock in lodging and dining far in advance. I need to know when I'm arriving and departing to do that. They need to accept they may never get the Max8 back.

Ok, then you move on to a different airline. Unless you're DVC, five months is more than adequate to book and plan a WDW trip. If you don't like that time frame, take your business to a different air carrier. :confused3

I believe that's what I said I was doing. It was a rant and a PSA to others hoping to book mid August travel.

I get your frustration! We stopped flying with Southwest last year. The prices were creeping up to Delta and with their lack of direct flights and seat assignments it was easy to make the switch. I also didn't like that flight times came out so late compared to Delta. Definitely makes it harder to plan a Disney vacation.

Adequate to who? What you may consider adequate timing is going to vary greatly from someone else. Maybe they need more than 5 months to pay the trip off.

As an FYI it's actually been March 12th for a while now. I know it's hard to keep track as you check and then time goes on and then it changes.

If you want you can keep track via this thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/post-all-sw-questions-concerns-etc-here.2500174/page-298

On that thread it was noticed that it had changed from Feb 13th to March 12th on January 13th, 2020.

I hadn't noticed. I actually googled it a couple times, and it still showed the old date, but I realize now if you click the link and go to the actual site, it has updated to March 12. Glad I saw this thread so now I know! LOL.

I am so with you on this! Frustrated is putting it mildly. I booked the late Aug fun and sun discount. I’m worried I may need to change my hotel dates around when the airfare is finally released in March and by then it will probably be to late To change anything. I remember last year it had an anticipated date of February something but they released early on Jan 31st. That was great but this March rollout is ridiculous. I unfortunately need to wait for SW due to points and credits that we have accumulated. Smh and I have to book my dining on 2/23 🥺
