Big Lots has Wigo flat irons for $20.00. I bought one earlier tonight and I get home, open it up and am trying to peel the protective film off of the plates as indicated on the package. I can't get the film off then realize it's not there. Then I see there is hair stuck in the end of the thing, ick! :crazy2: The weird thing is, the cylinder that the flat iron came in was sealed with the ring of plastic still on it. My only thought is that Wigo had these returned by people and then sold them to Big Lots as closeouts. I surely hope that isn't the case because that is just GROSS!! Has anyone else bought one there and had a problem? I will for sure be returning this thing tomorrow! :drive:

I dunno...wouldn't bother me.

Every time you sit in a theater seat you get the other person's hair on you, not to mention if they pick their nose then touch the armrests again.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Yep, that'd be a shock and not what you thought you were purchasing. I saw these at Tuesday Morning the other day (curling irons too).
But I sorta feel like Fresh Tressa does---if the thing heats up and works right. Flat Irons are so expensive. Good ones go for 60.00-200.00.
I use a flat iron on different people every day.

<shrug> I paid for what was supposed to be a new item, so I guess that's what I expected to get. Not something someone has used before. I think it's gross, but I guess that's just how I am. I wouldn't buy a used razor, so I really don't want a used flat iron LOL.

I did call the store and the woman I spoke to agreed it was gross. She asked if the package said remanufactured and I told her it didn't. They had a bunch of them left, so she said I could exchange it or get a refund. I'm going to exchange it and check it before I leave the store to make sure it's not a used one ;)

When I read your first post I was thinking ew too. But FT and Buckalew make a good point. My stylists flat iron is used on many people. And you did only pay $20 for it. But that's good they'll let you exchange it anyway.

At first I was icked out when I read this. But then thinking about how my hair dresser uses her irons on everyone, It didn't bother me so much. I still would return it though.

I returned it today and after looking at a couple of the other ones, came to the conclusion that they too were used, so I opted for a refund. I think they should label them as "remanufactured" because these were not new. The store agreed. I'll just shell out full price for a new one! I'm thinking a Chi. Anyone have one? How do you like it?

yeah, I was going to say they are probably refurbished ones.

I bought a Chi over 3 yrs ago and love it! I recently purchased quite a few of them for 2 members of my family because they were running a special. Buy 3 for $225. ($75 each) or $125 each, if less than 3 are purchased. (didn't make sense to only buy 2 because it would've been $150. So I bought the 3, sold them for the $75 each to my family members and still holding onto another new one incase someone else wanted one or mine broke .... It would be an ugly morning if mine did break
I should probably just sell it to recoup my $. hmm..if anyone wants to buy it PM me. (maybe i can't do this here..) please remove my post if its not "legal" here. Just thought it would save someone some $$.

It wouldnt gross me out.. Now if I thought it was new and thats what I wanted then Id bring it back.. But.. as everyone mentioned, if you go to a stylist they reuse the same iron over and over.. so I dont think of it as gross.. just maybe not what you thought it was.. I dont use a flat iron, but my daughter does.. That thing cost a fortune but it works wonderful..

I don't blame you for being grossed out. I would have been as well. I have a Big Chi which I bought at Trade Secrets for I think about $125.00. Money well spent. I love it and it works beautifully.

If you have a Sally Beauty Supply in your town, look for the Helen of Troy Flat iron. I bought my dd one and she has super curly hair...hangs in ringlets. This flat iron straightens her hair like magic and it stays until she washes it or gets it wet. It was 39.99. A Chi couldn't work better. We're happy with it. It might also be available on their website.
