Ugh. Nothing available?!

Just called MS. We had booked AKL Sav view 2 BR for Oct, first night was Value because they didn't have Sav view (with waitlist for Sav view)...now we wanted to add two nights because it is a holiday weekend and the airfares are ridiculous. So called MS, no AKL available. I kind of figured that might happen, so I said just check any other resort and see if we can do the whole time somewhere else. NOTHING is available. I find it hard to believe that there is zero availability in DVC for 2 BRs. I figured BCV & BWV would be hard because of Food & Wine, but nothing?
Are there any tricks tips? I kept our AKL res for now, just in case...
Thanks

Sorry that you ran into the triple whammy time period of Epcot Food and Wine, MNSSHP, and Columbus Day.

You indicated you checked for the entire trip somewhere else. Sometimes you can get less days or just the add on the two dates somewhere else. If you really are serious about adding days, then I'd check into a split stay as it might be your only option at this point, especially since you are less than 3 months from your check in date. And then if you get those add on dates at a second resort, you can waitlist at both resorts to have all of the trip at one resort or the other.

Just remember, no matter what DVC resort you stay at, you're still at WDW that's gotta be better than sitting at home.

Here's a little pixiedust: to help you get the reservation you want.

I'm new at this so can someone help??
Trying to rent points nov3-9 2010 at
WLV, two bedroom. I'm told no availability.
What about cancellations? Do some owners
have waiting lists? Only interested in WLV.

Owners do have waiting lists, however I don't think anyone would rent points to you for a waiting list reservation as you might not rent the points if the reservation doesn't come through. The owner would be stuck with the unused points. The VWL is a fairly small DVC resort (a maximum of 89 2BR villas) so I think your chances of getting a villa even on a wait list is very small.

If you really only want to stay at that resort you could always pay cash for a regular rooms at Wilderness Lodge instead but keep in mind you are trying to book during Jersey Week (a teacher's convention) and Disney might be filling up at the Deluxe resorts.

I know all about nj teachers wk, free dinning are black out
dates due to this!!! I am actually booked at a moderate resort
through my TA but family would like WL which is to pricey. It
would have been manageable through a dvc member though.
Wish I would have looked in to this more early on!:sad2:

SharonW -

Have you considered any other DVC resorts, if they're available? I know it's a bummer if you really wanted VWL. But if you can rent through DVC comparable to your moderate price, I would definitely do it. We love OKW and it's less points per night than VWL, so it should be a good value if you're renting. Just a thought....

Thanks for your input. We wanted WL since it is a boat ride away from MK. We will have a three yr old along and the convenience of WL for naps and quick returns to the room is a big plus! I wish I could at least get on a waiting list for VWL!!!

OP here, just called MS. There is ZERO inventory at DVC for the night of 10/10! I even tried two studios ANYWHERE, just to have a ressie. So I waitlisted AKL 2 BR savannah view for the two nights I want, and will keep calling in case something opens up somewhere else, I can book it and keep my wait list (right?)...this is really confusing, and I have been a member for about 5 years! Anyone know if I am missing something? I hope it comes through...I wonder what the inventory for AKL Savannah view 2 BRs is?
Pixie dust for me please!

I hear you about the high occupancy. We are only going one night after our cruise - Oct 21st. We have a studio at AKV. We are really hoping for a MK resort. We called today - not a single studio anywhere on property and the only 1BRs left are at SSR. I have never seen it this high before.

If my waitlist would come thru for Oct 1st then there would be a 1BR at BCV that would open up for the 10th! :goodvibes

Just got off the phone with MS and the only thing I could get for our last minute Oct. 17-24 trip was SSR studio, but they said I would have to pay cash for one day ($247) in the middle of our stay. I think that is so silly! I didn't book it because we have stayed there the last two times and really wanted to try something new. I will have to ask my DH and see what he thinks. Bummer!

Yikes! I put in an online request for a studio this morning for Oct 10 at BCV or BWV for my stepson and his family. I wish I had seen this thread first. Talk about wishful thinking on my part! And Epcot resorts to boot. I knew it was a long shot, but had no idea just how long. :rotfl:

I guess I'll be seeing a "you're out of luck" email within two days. :headache:

If you're only interested in VWL and booking this late, I'm afraid you are going to be out of luck. That is the smallest DVC resort.

That weekend is also mouse adventure....might be consuming some rooms. I am going oct 7-11 for that reason and booked at

ETA. It is being held at Animal Kingdom Park...so AKL is probably pretty popular.

What is this "mouse adventure"?

Our waitlist came through today for VWL. We were booked at Jambo House Oct. 30 - Nov 2 (studio) and were only on the waitlist for about a month. Very excited!

What is MouseAdventure?
MouseAdventure is a popular and fun quest-based event produced by MousePlanet and held twice a year at one of the Disney Theme Parks.

The signature community event for MousePlanet readers, MouseAdventure is part-scavenger hunt, part-road rally, part-trivia challenge - a team-based competition that guarantees you will never look at the Disneyland Resort in the same way again. You'll notice buildings you usually walk past (do you know the address of the Main Street Music Company?), colors you might not have noticed (how many purple cars are there on the Sun Wheel?), and little details you didn't even acknowledge (cannonballs on City Hall? You bet - we've seen 'em).

Held in the fall (usually October or November) and in the spring (usually March or April) in Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, or even in both, MouseAdventure uses various event formats with their own rules and strategies, with puzzle-based "quests" serving as their core.

I couldn't figure out how many usually attend, but the website did say there was a limited admission.

If it is this solidly booked, is it possible that they'll declare some new inventory? Perhaps at BLT? Then maybe the bottleneck would clear a bit?

I guess I'll be grateful that I booked a 2BD at my home resort, SSR, so far in advance. (Oct. 10 - 19). My Mom was very ill at the seven-month mark, when I intended to switch the whole reservation over to the Boardwalk. So far, I've got Oct. 13-19 at BWV, with the first 3 nights at SSR.

Our schools don't get "Columbus Day" off around here, so what a surprise that it was such an issue. When, exactly, are New Jersey schools off?

Sorry that you ran into the triple whammy time period of Epcot Food and Wine, MNSSHP, and Columbus Day.

It's also Canadian Thanksgiving so you may have some Canadians taking vacations knowing they have a Stat day in there.

I feel your pain. Flights Veteran's weekend were high. I was able to change and go one day sooner and return one day sooner but we are waitlisted for the first new nite- can get a cash ressie for 299 but the flight arrives 11PM we probably wouldn't even get there until after midnight. So I haven't got anything booked for that first nite. And if we flew out after 10AM on Saturday the car rental went up over $100 just for 6 more hours of car rental for that day alone. I could get good prices IND to Tampa but car rental was between 500 and 600 so I went ahead and took MDW to MCO with car rental $211.

They don't declare inventory to take care of being booked solid- in reality that is what should happen- the rooms should be booked solid. While there might be a possibility of a new declaration I wouldn't count on it.

They only declare inventory when they sell points, not just because it's booked. They project sales in advance so they actually declare rooms before they sell points so chances are they have already declared rooms in advance for the fall.
