I'm in the Indianapolis area and I just want to say I am SO proud of the Butler Bulldogs! What a game. I'm just so glad they made it to the championship game - - I never thought that would ever happen.

None of the Duke fans I know are insufferable to me because I don't rub it in when my Heels kick their teams' butt, LOL. Really, you get what you give. My nephews are obnoxious Carolina fans, but they can't stand it when the Dookies do the same thing to them.

Oh, I forgot about State. I remember when the big game was the State/Carolina game. I don't have any close friends who are State fans so I tend to forget about them. We are all either Duke or Carolina alums.

I'm not obnoxious to my Duke friends when Carolina wins. And they won't be personally unpleasant to me. It's just the concept of a Duke National Championship that will be hard to stomach.

Oh, well, maybe they will fold next year like we did and they will have a year of humbling to endure...

With that said, if Carolina (or State) had been in the finals, I would have rooted for either of those teams to win as well. I'm just happy a NC college won the National Championship! I believe you can cheer for a team and not be obnoxious about it, after all it is just a game.

That's how I feel, but there are a lot of people who don't see it as just a game. A lot of Duke fans are not ACC fans, they are ABC fans, anybody but Carolina, LOL. There are lots of anybody but duke fans on the Carolina side as well.

They were amazing. Last night I was very conflicted concerning which team I should support and I'm a Blue Devil. Go ahead, boo, hiss I can take it. I've been married to a Tarheel for 33 years. I'm not sure, but I think that particular joining together in matrimony now requires a 7 day waiting period during basketball season and signing a waiver.
Anyway, after last night's hard fought battle this Blue Devil couldn't declare an absolute winner. Sometimes you don't win, you just manage to escape.

That was essentially what the announcer said, "Duke may have won, but Butler didn't lose" or something like that. It was a great game for Butler!!

I have the root for a NC team thing most of the time, too - it's just hard to pull the trigger for Duke. It seems so...unnatural.

I was so proud of the way Butler played.

It was a GREAT game, hard fought but clean. Every play, every pass was contested. Both teams gave it all they got, and Butler came soooooooo close to becoming the upset of the decade.

It was much closer than the oddsmakers had predicted, and that it was certainly not an easy win for Duke. It came right down to the wire, and really, it could have gone either way. I think the whole world has enormous respect for Butler and what they were able to achieve.

I don't do the root for North Carolina team thing if it's Duke. I will for State and Wake. I've been to the ACC tournament, and every time the Duke student section chanted "Go to H--- Carolina" the entire game. I made a solumn vow in March 1978 (when Duke was playing Wake for the championship -- Carolina was already out) that I would never cheer for them and I haven't.

Dh and I sang I rousing chorus of our favorite anti-Duke song last night. If you went to Carolina, I'm sure you know the words. Does anyone know if they have a Carolina song?

I posted a couple days ago that I respected the Duke program and it's almost 100% graduation rate, so I can say something nice about them. Butler also has a great grad rate as does Carolina.

We also have lots of Duke grad friends, and rib each other pretty goodnaturedly. I don't think they ever cheer for Carolina either.
